VINCE RILLON’s first streaming movie, “Siklo”, a potent combination of sex and violence, is a certified hit on Vivamax.
It’s very commercial, with many startling twists and turns in the narrative that will really shock most viewers. He now has a new movie, “Sisid”, directed by his mentor, Brillante Mendoza, who has brought him to international film festivals like Cannes and Cairo.
This one is less commercial than “Siklo” and more of a touching drama of unrequited love between two young men.
What can he say to the comments of bashers that all they show in Vivamax are sex flicks?
“I respect po yung opinion nila, but itong ‘Sisid’, sana panoorin muna nila bago nila husgahan,” he says.
He’s been directed by Mendoza several times. Does he still feel pressured?
His co-stars in “Sisid”, Paolo Gumabao, Kylie Versoza and Christine Bermas, are first timers with Mendoza. How is it working with them?
“We were together on location sa Pola, Oriental Mindoro to shoot ‘Sisid’. Noong una, iniisip ko, baka manibago sila kasi mainstream sila, e ako, galing sa indie. But in fairness to them, puro sila magagaling lahat.
Hindi sila nahirapan at all.
He and Paolo play young men who fall in love with each other and they have two love scenes. One on a boat and one on the beach. Didn’t he find it hard to kiss another man?
“No, hindi ako nahirapan kasi I know tunay na lalaki si Paolo and we’re just acting. We have to train muna for them.
He’s now doing one movie after another. He has two other films in the can, “Resbak” for Cignal and a movie with Coco Martin. How does he feel about it?
