“WIDOW’S WEB” is the first suspenserye on GMA-7 and the first project directed by Jerry Sineneng since he became as a Kapuso.
A murder-mystery thriller, it’s about the very wealthy Sagrado Family with Carmina Villaroel as Barbara and Ryan Eigenmann as Alexander as sister and brother who are fighting for power to control their business empire.
Ryan gets killed and everyone becomes a suspect. This includes Ashley Ortega as Jackie, Ryan’s own wife who is already sick and tired of his being a domineering and controlling husband.
Also playing important roles are Pauline Mendoza as Elaine, an employee in the hotel of the Sagrados who helps try to solve the case after her boyfriend, EA Guzman as Frank, was wrongly accused of being the murderer; and Vaness del Moral as the flamboyant Hillary who is married to an invalid, Bernard Palanca as the wheelchair-bound William.
Other cast members are Adrian Alandy as Vladimir, Christian Vasquez as Boris, Mosang as Delia the mayordoma, Dave Bornea as Dwight, Neil Coleta as Julius, Michael Agassi as George, Tanya Gomez as EA’s mom Gloria,
Arthur Solinap as the cop assigned to investigate the murder case Emil, Allan Paule as Pauline’s dad Ramon, Karenina Haniel as the family’s maid, and newcomers Anjay Anson as Carmina’s son Jed and Vanessa Pena as Vaness’s daughter Nikki.
Direk Jerry Sineneng is asked about his experience working with GMA-7 for the first time.
“Napakasarap, napakagaang magtrabaho sa GMA,” he says. “Malaking project ito, mahirap gawin, but the script is one of the best written scripts na nagawa ko. And naramdaman ko agad ang suporta ng buong GMA sa’kin. Wala akong mahihiling pa, from the cast to the crew, sobrang saya ko kasi mahuhusay silang lahat.
"I’ve worked with some of the stars sa past network ko, pero yung iba like sina Vaness, Ashley and Pauline, now lang. Napakababait nila, so professional, we had a series of script readings and they all deliver, puro sila magagaling lalo si Ashley na binibigyan dito ng GMA ng magandang break in a lead role.”
So how does Ashley feel to be one of the leads in “Widow’s Web”?
“I’m very grateful na mabigyan ako ng chance to star in this very good, very big project,” she says. “When I read the script, it’s amazing. My character is very different from anything I’ve done before.
'This is the most mature role assigned to me, so I have to level up, not only in looks but I also have think and act mature, kasi wife ako ni Kuya Ryan Eigenmann. Kailangan ding mag-ugaling mayaman ako kasi si Jackie comes from a very rich family.
"Always ladylike, so dapat baguhin ko lahat ng kilos ko, very refined, even the little things like my hair, naka-hair extension ako. I have to put so much effort into the character to be convincing. May pressure for me kasi puro magagaling ang kasama ko.
"Karamihan sa kanila, first time ko makatrabaho. But I’m just thankful to be part of this great show that starts airing on February 28 at 9:50 PM. Please don’t miss it.”
