PAULINE MENDOZA says she felt excited when GMA offered her the suspense-filled drama series, “Widow’s Web”.
“Thanks to GMA kasi sobrang ganda ng project na ito and it’s on primetime pa,” she says.
“I got so excited with my role dahil makakasama ko uli si Ms. Carmina Villaroel na antagonist ko in our last show, ‘Babawiin Ko ang Lahat’. First time ko rin to work with our director, Direk Jerry Sineneng and with my leading man, EA Guzman.”
She plays Elaine Inocencio, a simple lady who works in the hotel owned by the family of Carmina Villaroel, Vaness del Moral and Ashley Ortega.
“This is about four women at silang tatlo yung mga mayayaman. Ako yung hindi. This is also my first mature role, sobrang kakaiba ito from the past shows I did like ‘Kambal Karibal’ and Babawiin’.
"First time I’d be married kasi magiging asawa ko rito si EA as Frank. Then, when he is accused in the murder of Ryan Eigenmann na brother ni Ms. Carmina and husband ni Ashley, I will do my own undercover investigation to help get him out of jail.”
She found the role emotionally demanding. “Talagang na-challenge ako to give my best kasi, unang-una, puro magagaling ang mga kasama ko and I feel I have to do better para hindi nila ako matabunan.
"Tapos, grabe ang struggle faced by my character as Elaine who is searching for justice for her husband.”
So how did she prepare for the role? “The first thing I did is to lose weight. I have to lose my baby fats kasi mahirap lang kami rito so I have to look a bit gaunt.
"Yung character kong si Elaine, marami siyang pagdaraanang mabigat na pagsubok after mapagbintangan ang husband niya. I want to give my 100 percent sa role ko to give it full justice.”
She will do everything to prove her husband EA is innocent.
“Ipaglalaban niya talagang makamit ng mister niya ang tamang hustisya dahil sa pagmamahal niya rito. In the process, marami siyang makaka-enkwentro sa ibang characters kaya marami talagang dramatic confrontation scenes and I want to thank our director, Jerry Sineneng, sa lahat ng pag-aalalay niya sa akin.
"First time ko to work with him and I really enjoyed it. Gayundin kay EA, he being the more experienced actor between us, sinuportahan din niya ako nang husto.”
