KEN CHAN LEAVES RITKEN LOVE TEAM TO BE PAIRED WITH BIANCA UMALI IN 'MANO PO LEGACY 2: HER BIG BOSS', STARTS THIS MONDAY, MARCH 14

KEN CHAN is happy for Rita to star in her own movie paired with Jak Roberto while he stars in his own primetime teleserye paired with Bianca Umali in “Mano Po Legacy 2: Her Big Boss”.

“Ritken fans told me na malungkot sila kasi nga nagkahiwalay kami ni Rita, but it’s something that is bound to happen,” he says. “Kasi three years na kaming laging magkasama sa soaps and as co-hosts in ‘The Clash, Four Seasons’.

"When we did ‘Ang Dalawang Ikaw’, we were told that for our own sake, it’s good na we do separate projects kasi sunod-sunod na yung teleseryeng ginawa namin at may movie pa kaming ‘Huling Ulan sa Tag-araw’. And we understand that.”

So how is it being paired with Bianca this time?

“Siempre, nakakapanibago. But Bianca is a big help, kasi like me, dati rin siyang identified sa one love team, but now, she’s on her own starting sa ‘Legal Wives’ na si Dennis Trillo ang nakasama niya.

"She told me it’s really better for one’s career na hindi ka identified lang sa isang love team lang kasi you get to work with other co-stars at hindi ka malilimitahan sa trabaho mo.”

He loves his role in “Her Big Boss” as Richard Lim as he plays the title role of the big boss.

“Unlike the first ‘Mano Po’ na drama, this one is a romantic-comedy naman and my character is someone who has obsessive-compulsive disorder or OCD, sobrang organizado at metikuloso sa lahat ng bagay, pero comedy ang treatment.

"Parang yung character ni Jack Nicholson sa ‘As Good As It Gets’ that won him an Oscar best actor award. Very strict boss din ako rito ni Bianca. Tipong hindi masyadong tumatawa.”

In contrast, Irene, the character played by Bianca is very bubbly as his assistant.

“Yes, we are opposites kasi masayahin siya rito, always smiling, full of energy and laging all wired up. Sa simula, we don’t see each other eye to eye but as the story goes, mas gaganda ang relationship namin.

"We’re asking the people around us and they all say na maganda yung chemistry namin ni Bianca on screen na isang seryoso at isang always happy. We complement each other.”

In “Her Big Boss”, Ken and Bianca are supported by Ricardo Cepeda and Marina Benipayo as Ken’s rich parents, Pokwang as Bianca’s very supportive mother, plus Kelvin Miranda, Teejay Marquez, Sarah Edwards, Haley Dizon, Blue Cailles, Sarah Holmes and Kate Yalung.

This starts airing on Monday, March 14, after the hit suspenserye, “Widow’s Web”.
