ABDUL RAHMAN HAPPY TO BE IN A DAILY AFTERNOON DRAMA, 'RAISING MAMAY', & IN A PRIMETIME COMEDY, 'TOLS', ON GTV STARTING THIS SATURDAY, 7 PM

ABDUL RAHMAN was a runner up in Starstruck 7 but he now gets lots of projects with GMA-7.

This is a big help for him after his mom had a stroke and a blood clot had to be removed from her brain. He’s thankful that many GMA stars helped him financially in their medical expenses.

“I was doing ‘Legal Wives’ po when it happened at isa sa pinakamalaki ang contribution was Kuya Dennis Trillo,” he says.

“Ang laki talaga ng naitulong niya sa amin so I want to thank him and all the other Kapuso stars who helped us. Mas okay na ngayon ang mom. She can now talk again.”

Abdul is currently in the hit Afternoon Prime drama, “Raising Mamay”, opposite his ka-love team, Shayve Sava. Now, he’ll also be seen on primetime in the new GTV family sitcom, “Tols”, that starts airing on Saturday, June 25, at 7 PM.

“I feel so lucky to be chosen as part of ‘Tols’ kasi ang saya-saya niyang gawin,” says Abdul. “Laging good vibes ang taping namin at bawat episode that we do.”

“Tols” is the story of the Macaspac triplets: Uno (Kelvin Miranda), Dos (Shaun Salvador) and Third (Abdul Rahman) who grew up separately and became completely estranged from each other.

Their mom Barbie (Rufa Mae Quinto) leave them to their relatives in order to work abroad and give them a good life.

When Barbie returns home after several years, she wishes to reunite with her sons.

Although hesitant, the triplets agree to her wish. However, Barbie feels the resentment of her sons towards her and she vows to do her best to win back their hearts.

For the family to survive their daily expenses, Barbie and her sons decide to revive her father’s barbershop.

They soon renovate it to keep up with the times and call it ‘Tols Barber and Salon,’ a hybrid barber-salon shop for men and women manned and serviced by straight men.

“Tols” aims to bring good vibes and insightful life lessons about family life to Kapuso viewers.

Abdul considers being part of “Tols” as a good break and shares how much he learned from his co-stars.

“It’s my first sitcom and I’m one of the leads, so I feel like this is a really, really big break for me.

"I am very excited about the airing of this show and I am very thankful for everyone involved.

"Sa aming tatlo naman, I love working with Kevin and Shaun. Para talaga kaming brothers sa set.

"We help encourage each other to do better in every scene that we do. We want to thank Ms. Rufa Mae as our mom kasi she helps a lot in doing our comic scenes.”

Just like her role in the sitcom, Rufa Mae is making her TV comeback after years of living abroad with her husband and daughter. The Sparkle talent shares her excitement to be working on this program.

“Parang God’s will lahat ng nangyari. Na-feel ko lang kasi wala nang quarantine, so sabi ko pwede na kaming umuwi. Na-miss kong magpatawa.

"Saan ka makakakuha ng trabaho na walang ginawa kundi tumawa nang tumawa? Dito sa show, welcome lahat at para kaming isang maliit na pamilya.”

Also a mainstay is Betong Sumaya as Tuks.

“This is a feel good show so watch out for our special guests in each episode. Ang dami talagang mga Kapuso stars na aabangan ninyo at bubulaga na lang sa ‘Tols’ para mapasayahin kayo.”

Spicing up the lives of the triplets in the series are Arkin Del Rosario as Makoy Bayagbag, the conceited man who will do everything to steal the attention of girls; Olive May as Ellane Dimaculangan, a smart young lady and one-of-the-boys; Raymond Mabute as Kenny Dimaculangan, the reliable manager of Tols Barber Salon; and Rolando Inocencio as Mang Kanor Macaspac, the loving father of Barbie who provides her the voice of reason during tough times.

Director Monti Parungao helms this much-awaited sitcom which is a co-production between GMA Network and Merlion Events Production, Inc.
