ANGELI KHANG was delighted when she was told that people were looking for her when the group of Vivamax sexy stars went on a motorcade in various places out of town.
“Yes, I was told na hinahanap ako sa caravan, pero nakaka-pressure din,” she says at the zoom presscon of her new movie “Virgin Forest”.
“Kasi nahihiya ako, I don’t really know kung paano ako kikilos sa harap nila? Kakaway ba ako or what? Mahiyain kasi talaga ako.
"Sa premiere night lang, nahihiya ako na tinatawag nila ako, tapos andaming nagpapa-picture.
"But i’m so delighted sa warm reception nila. Sobrang nakakatuwa, pero hindi pa talaga nagsi-sink in sa akin kapag sinasabing sikat na ako.”
What’s her role in “Virgin Forest”?
“Victim ako ng human trafficking at ginawang prostitute against my will. My most memorable scene is the one with Markki Stroem na kinakawawa ako. Ni-rape kasi niya ako.”
It seems she’s always a victim in her films?
“Yes, yun lagi ang role ko, e. Kinakawawa. Sa ‘Silip sa Apoy’, si Sid Lucero ang nambugbog sa’kin. Sa ‘Pusoy’, si Baron Geisler.
"Ngayon naman si Markki. Bago namin ginawa ang eksena, bonding- bonding muna kami, para mas makilala namin ang isa’t isa. In fairness, naitawid naman namin yung rape scene.”
Doesn’t she get tired of doing movies where she’s always asked to take her clothes off?
“Well, I hope and pray na after ten movies, sana matigil na ang sexy films for me.
"But I think ‘Virgin Forest’ is one of the best movies I made kasi malalim ang movie about illegal logging, environmental protection and the exploitation of women at maganda ang direction ni Direk Brillante Mendoza.
"Pero sana nga, dumating dun sa point na ako na mismo ang hahanapin ng mga tao at hindi yung paghuhubad lang, para magkaroon naman ako ng wholesome movie where I can show my potential in acting.”
She is also taping an 8-part drama series, “Wag Mong Agawin ang Akin”, directed by Mac Alejandre who helmed her in her biggest Vivamax hit, “Silip sa Apoy”, where she was at her most daring. So how is it working with Direk Mac again?
“Masarap katrabaho si Direk Mac kasi very patient siya in explaining what he wants to get from you in a scene. In ‘Silip sa Apoy’, nagulat ako kasi nakaya kong gawin lahat ng mga ipinagawa niya sa akin and when we watched it, ang ganda namang lumabas on screen. So I give him my full trust.”
