ALLEN DIZON has already won many acting awards here and abroad in films like “Dukot”, “Magkakabaung”, “Sekyu”, “Bomba”, “Area” and “Iadya Mo Kami”.
This year, he again bagged a couple of best actor awards for his performance as a battered husband in the drama about domestic violence, “Latay”.
He now plays another meaty role in the dark crime drama, “Pamilya sa Dilim”.
He actually plays a dual role, the father and the son, who are both police officers.
When he gets such plum roles, is he already anticipating more awards in the future?
“Naku, hindi ko iniisip yun, na mananalo na naman ako ng award for this movie,” he says.
“What I do is I always just give my best in every role that is assigned to me. Anuman ang character na ibinibigay nila sa akin, inaaral ko lang mabuti ang script and I just feel it wholeheartedly.
"Madalas naman kasi, yung character na ginagampanan ko, malayo sa akin sa tunay na buhay.
"Kamukha rito sa ‘Pamilya sa Dilim’, my role as the cop called Eddie Boy, ibang klase ang kasamaan niya.
"E, definitely hindi ako ganun. But I’m just thankful na nabibigyan ako ng ganitong klase ng demanding roles where people get to appreciate my performance.”
He wants to thank writer-director Jay Altarejos for getting him for the role.
“This is my first time to work with him and excited ako sa aming magiging collaboration as I know he’s one of our best young directors today.
"This movie will also give me the chance to work with Direk Laurice Guillen as my co-star.
"First time ko rin to work with her kaya it’s really an honor as not everyone is given the chance to work with her.
"I know I will learn a lot just by working with her. She plays my mother here.
"Pero yung husband niya, I also play him sa flashbacks in our younger years, with Ina Feleo as the young Laurice. Sa present time naman, Sunshine Cruz plays my abused sister.”
