DERRICK MONASTERIO is finally given his own solo starring role in GMA-7’s new afternoon drama, “Return to Paradise”, after years of doing supporting parts in various teleseryes.
All we can say is: it’s about time!
Derrick is one of the best looking young leading men in GMA.
And he has not only good looks but height (he’s 6 feet tall), a hunky physique he really worked hard for, and he can both sing and act well.
Derrick was discovered in 2010 when he was only 15 years old and was introduced with other teen stars in “Tween Hearts” and GMA’s Sunday show then, “Party Pilipinas”.
He was last seen playing a supporting role in last year’s “Legal Wives” and we’re glad he finally gets his own show now.
Aside from this, he has completed a new sexy flick for Regal Films directed by Joey Reyes, “Cheat Day”, where he is paired with new sexy hottie Alexa Miro.
So we hope his new projects on film and TV will truly help boost his career.
In “Return to Paradise”, he is paired with Elle Villanueva, a commercial model who's appeared in GMA shows and is given her biggest break here.
He plays Red Ramos and Elle plays Eden Sta. Maria.
They are two young people who get marooned in a deserted island after a plane accident.
They fall in love with each other while they’re stranded together but when they get rescued, they find out that their respective parents have a troubled past that will undoubtedly affect their relationship.
Eula Valdez, Elle's mom, was imprisoned for a crime she didn't commit and is the mortal enemy of Derrick's mom, Teresa Loyzaga.
How did he feel when he was told he’d finally get to star in his own series?
“Well, I was quite surprised pero sobrang saya ko and I immediately prayed at nagpasalamat ako kay Lord for this big opportunity,” he says.
“Of course, I also want to thank GMA management for this great project.”
How is it working with a newcomer like Elle?
“Masaya ako working with her kasi sa workshops pa lang, nag-click agad kami. Magaan siyang kasama at naging magkatropa kami agad sa lock in location shoot namin sa island.”
Their now being dubbed as the “hottest new young couple” at the Kapuso network since they will have sexy scenes in the show. He, for one, will be shirtless in many scenes to display his chiselled torso.
“Yes, medyo sexy ang series namin and I hope the viewers will enjoy the scenes where we show some skin,” he grins.
“But more than that the sexy scenes, we are optimistic that viewers will appreciate the beautiful story involving us as star-crossed lovers whose relationship will be tested by many obstacles thrown our way.”
“Return to Paradise” will start airing on GMA Afternoon Prime this coming Monday, August 1, at 3:25 PM, replacing the hit drama, “Raising Mamay”.
Supporting them are Allen Dizon, Ricardo Cepeda, Liezel Lopez as the third wheel in the Derrick-Elle relationship and Kiray Celis.
