DIRECTOR MAC ALEJANDRE is one of the busiest directors now in Vivamax.
He did hit films like “My Husband, My Lover” and “Silip sa Apoy”.
Now, he has a new film, “May December January”, and a new 8-part TV series, “Wag Mong Agawin ang Akin” that will start airing on July 31.
“Wag Mong Agawin” stars Jamilla Obispo and Angeli Khang as a mother and a daughter fighting for the same man, Felix Roco. He directed it with much fondness.
“Very special sa’kin ang relationship ng mag-ina, kaya special din for me ang ‘Wag Mong Agawin’ kasi it’s about a girl, Angeli as Jasmine, who grows up without her mother and she keeps on looking for her, at nang matagpuan niya, hindi pala sila magkakasundo dahil sa mag-aagawan sila sa isang lalaki,” says Direk Mac.
“Any material that’s about parent-child relationship, i like it kasi I’m reminded of my own daughter. And i’m challenged kasi ang bawat relationship, iba-iba ang dynamics but it’s always about love or one’s longing for love.”
How is it working with Angeli Khang?
“After ‘Silip sa Apoy’, i really want to work with Angeli again kasi I also saw her in ‘Mahjong Nights’ at ang galing-galing niya roon.
"Wide ang range ni Angeli and she will show that here in ‘Wag Mong Agawin’ lalo sa dramatic scenes nila ni Jamilla.”
It’s his first time to work with Jamille and Felix.
“Si Jamilla, Viva suggested her to me and when I saw her, gandang-ganda ako sa mukha niya. And it turns out, she also acts well. I’ve never worked with Felix but I’ve worked with his dad (Bembol Roco) several times.
"Ako naman, I never had problems with actors kasi kaya kong ipaliwanag at ipaintindi sa kanila ang requirements ng role nila at ng bawat eksena. Mahirap lang yung condition ng lock in, kasi nga pandemic kaya mas maraming challenges sa set.”
He’s also thankful that Viva has given him a very competent supporting cast.
“It’s a good ensemble. Arron Villaflor plays the scorned lover of Jamilla. Yayo Aguila is the former wife of a guy na napunta kay Jamilla.
"Josef Elizalde is the best friend of Felix. Hershey de leon is the partner and lover of Josef.
"Angelica Cervantes is the best friend of Angeli na naging witness sa kanyang tragic past as Jasmine.
"Lara Morena is the best friend of Jamilla who prefers young boys. Isadora and Julio Diaz play the parents of Felix Roco. All of them deliver well in the series.”
