Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko celebrates five years of fun-filled adventures this July!
More magical Sundays filled with brand-new adventures and life lessons are in store for Kapuso viewers as GMA Network’s award-winning weekly anthology Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko celebrates its fifth anniversary beginning this Sunday, July 10.
Since its launch in 2017, it has featured various Kapuso artists in lovable and unique characters and aired hundreds of episodes that captured the hearts of its audience.
The four-part anniversary special titled “Bida Kontrabida” is headlined by Rufa Mae Quinto as Evil Queen, Jo Berry as Rumpelstiltskin, Cai Cortez as Sea Witch, and Andre Paras as Big Bad Wolf.
Rufa teases the viewers that they must watch out for the special effects in their episodes, “Nakakatuwang bumalik sa GMA, then binigyan pa ako ng anniversary show. Talagang happy at nakaka-proud dahil sa matitinding effects. Bukod diyan, nakahanap pa ako ng mga bagong kaibigan at puro good vibes lang kami sa taping.”
Jo recalls that she has always been a fan of the show, “Second time ko na itong makasama sa anniversary special ng Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko. At bago pa ako maging artista, talagang pinapanood ko na siya. Kaya thankful ako sa GMA sa mga binibigay nilang roles na pwedeng panoorin ng mga bata at kapupulutan nila ng aral.”
This is also not the first time for Cai to guest in the program, but she says that Bida Kontrabida is by far her most memorable one, “Grateful ako to meet new friends and create a new family here. Magandang memory ito sa showbiz career ko dahil first time ko silang makatrabaho pero nagkasundo agad kaming lahat.”
Meanwhile, Andre is looking forward to more kontrabida roles like his character in the anniversary special which he finds interesting and fun to portray, “First time kong maging kontrabida pero ang good thing is very light siya for the kids. I felt young ulit kasi fairytale tapos naging character ko pa si Big Bad Wolf na kinakatakutan ko noong bata ako, so parang I also conquered my fear.”
Making the fifth anniversary celebration extra special is the rare appearance of Philippine entertainment industry icon and multi-awarded actress Ms. Gloria Romero as Lola Goreng.
Completing the cast are Beverly Salviejo as Lola Caring, Dentrix Ponce as Boyet, Ollie Espino as Teban, and Lime Aranya as Princess.
Kapuso viewers must also watch out for the special participation of Sparkle stars Glaiza de Castro, Rocco Nacino, Thea Tolentino, and Barbie Forteza in the month-long special.
“Bida Kontrabida” tells the story of Rumpelstiltskin (Jo), Sea Witch (Cai), and Evil Queen (Rufa Mae), who got tired of being villains. But unlike them, Big Bad Wolf (Andre) seeks revenge against humans who killed his family. One day, Princess (Lime) found an old fairytale book and took it home without knowing that the characters could come to life.
When Big Bad Wolf sees Princess reading the book, he forms a scheme. He tricks Sea Witch into giving him the pearl that will turn him into a human and transport him to the real world. Once there, he will save Princess from a bully named Boyet (Dentrix) with the intent of eating her himself.
The three villains figured out Big Bad Wolf’s plan and saw this as an opportunity to become heroes. They take pearls from Sea Witch and travel to the human world. They arrive just in time to save Princess and her Lola Caring (Beverly), but Big Bad Wolf flees before they could catch him.
Rumpelstiltskin, Sea Witch, and Evil Queen make a deal with Princess. They’ll protect her, and in return, she’ll write a book about their heroism. Princess, later on, learns that the villains are not inherently bad.
While the three form a bond with Princess, another problem arises. Boyet steals the fairytale book, which puts the villains’ lives in danger. But things get worse when Big Bad Wolf steals the book from Boyet and strips Rumpelstiltskin, Sea Witch, and Evil Queen of their powers!
Will they be able to get their superpowers back? Is there hope for Big Bad Wolf to change for the better? Will Princess be able to write a new book about the gallantry of Rumpelstiltskin, Sea Witch, and Evil Queen?
