JC SANTOS has worked with more experienced actresses like Bela Padilla, Janine Gutierrez, Ryza Cenon and Yassi Pressman.
He now gets to be paired for the first time with a newcomer, Cloe Barreto, in the suspense-drama ‘Tahan’. How is it working with a neophyte like Cloe?
“The challenge for me here is how to support Cloe kasi mahirap yung role niya as Elise,” he says.
“Binabasa ko pa lang yung script, sabi ko, ang hirap ng role niya as a girl na ibinubugaw ng sarili niyang ina, si Nora, as played by Jaclyn Jose, who turns out to be a psycho-killer.”
As a co-actor who becomes the romantic interest, JC wants to give Cloe his ful support.
“Gusto ko talaga to help her and I have to figure out how to do it. Paano ko ba magagawang mas ma-highlight yung character niya specially in the dramatic scenes.
"With the support of Direk Bobby Bonifacio and Ms. Jaclyn, I think we were able to help naman Cloe para maitawid niya nang maayos ang napakahirap niyang role.”
The movie is so different from the many romantic dramas he has done.
“Yes, kasi this more of a genre film na thriller. I play Cloe’s high school sweetheart, si Marcus. Matagal kaming hindi nagkita and when we see each other again, I didn’t want to lose her again.
"Ang hindi ko alam, isa na pala siyang high class prostitute. But na-renew yung romance between us. Problema lang yung mother niyang pinapatay pala ang mga lalaking nauugnay sa kanya. I would try to save her from her mom na ayaw siyang pakawalan.”
He has love scenes with Cloe in the movie. Would he allow his wife, Shyleena Herrera, to see their steam scenes on screen?
“Yeah, okay lang for my wife to watch this film. I think hindi naman siya mao-offend kahit may sexy scenes ako. She knows I’m an actor and confident akong ok lang sa kanya yun.”
How is it working with Cloe and Jaclyn as his only co-stars in “Tahan”?
“Cloe shows a lot of promise as an actress. Given the right projects, mas mahahasa pa siya. About Ms. Jaclyn, one thing I love about her is she is very consistent.
"Lahat ng trabaho niya, wala kang itatapon. She really works hard on the set and it’s so nice to watch her so disciplined to make a scene work. Yun ang gusto kong ma-achieve for myself, yung consistency niya. She’s such an inspiration.”
JC and his wife are the latest endorsers of Beautederm whose Pres. and CEO Rei Anicoche-Tan got them to be ambassadors of BeauteHaus, a clinic offering body sculpting and slimming treatments.
JC admits he has neglected his body for a while but after undergoing the non-invasive procedures of BeauteHaus, he is now ready to display his physique again in his next projects.
