CHRISTINE BERMAS has starred in many sexy dramas before like “Moonlight Butterfly”, “Sisid”, “Island of Desire”, but she says she is at her wildest in her newest flick, “Scorpio Nights 3”, a remake of the 1985 Peque Gallaga Experimental Cinema classic.
The original movie starred Anna Marie Gutierrez as the wife of the late Orestes Ojeda who has an affair with their peeping Tom neighbor, Daniel Fernando.
“Scorpio Night 3” retains the basic core of the story with Christine as the unfaithful wife, Mark Anthony Fernandez as her common law husband, and Gold Aceron in his biggest break as the young lover.
What’s her reaction when she learned she would play the lead role that was first assigned to AJ Raval?
“I immediately got excited,” she says. “Nasa bakasyon ako noon at nagulat ako when the offer came.
"Kasi alam ko, classic na yung original nito at nagmarka talaga nsa tao. So napakaswerte kong akong napili nila.”
So she didn’t mind being second choice?
“Not at all. I didn’t even have to audition. Talagang ibinigay sa akin. Meron pa ngang ‘Scorpio Nights 2’ starring Joyce Jimenez but iba naman ang story noon.”
Did she get to watch the past versions?
“Yes, yung original, kasi available yun sa Vivamax. Yung ‘Scorpio Nights 2’, wala akong makitang copy, e.
"Itong remake namin, based talaga sa story ng original but siempre, it’s updated to modernize it for today’s audiences.
"Yung character ko dito ngayon is a cam girl at sinisilipan ako ng neighbor naming engineering student, si Gold Aceron nga.
"Sa original, yung jowa was a security guard, dito naman, Mark Anthony works as bodyguard ng isang top lawyer played by Julio Diaz.
"Mas liberated at seductive yung character ko dito dahil inaakit ko talaga si Gold at may scene na bino-blowjob ko siya habang nakalawit yung kanya sa butas ng sahig.”
Can she relate with her role in real life? Is she really a Scorpio?
“No, hindi po. Virgo po ako, virgin. Yung mga character na ginagampanan ko sa movies ko, malayong-malayo sa akin kasi conservative ako in real life.
"When I face the camera, inihihiwalay ko ang personal views ko sa what I do in my work as an actress.
"Para akong may split personality. Yung Christine na nagpapa-sexy on screen, iba yung sa Christine na napapanood on screen.
"Itong ‘Scorpio Nights 3’ ang sexiest movie na nagawa ko, also the most challenging pagdating sa acting.
"In the future, I hope mabigyan ako ng more demanding dramatic roles dahil hindi ko naman balak na maging sexy star habang buhay.”
“Scorpio Nights 3” starts streaming on Vivamax this Friday, July 29.
Director Lawrence Fajardo and screenwriter Roy Iglesias have made lots of changes from Peque Gallaga’s original film that will surely shock those who’ve seen Peque’s movie.
