MICHELLE ALDANA returns to acting in “Nakarehas na Puso”. The former Mutya ng Pilipinas and Miss Asia Pacific 1993 starred in several Viva movies, including the acclaimed “Segurista”, where she played the title role and got nominated as best actress.
She left her acting career when she married a German national who works with an international communications company in 2000.
They eventually relocated to South Africa, where Michelle gave birth to two sons, one of whom, Dustin, is now studying in Germany.
In South Africa, she became active as an actress and did three TV series starting 2012, including “The Wild” and “Legacy”.
Now that her sons are grown ups, she accepted the offer of GMA to act in a teleserye.
“There were project offered before but when they gave me this, I read it and I liked my role,” she says. “Right time for me to come back kasi this is my first teleserye.
"When I left, telemovies pa lang ang ginagawa, e. First time ko ring magkontrabida so it’s very challenging for me. At yung role ko rito as Doris, sobrang kontrabida siya. So gusto ko ito, I said, yes, let’s do this.”
She says it’s an honor to play villain to Jean Garcia.
“Pinapanood ko siya sa ‘Lolong’ and I saw her as Claudia in ‘Pangako Sa’Yo’ so noong una, natakot ako. I was really terrified considering how good she is at playing contravida.
"First time ko siyang makatrabaho, so kinakabahan ako, but it turned out, very supportive pala siya. Sa galing niya, madadala ka talaga.
"She even taught me kung paano gagawin yung physical scenes nang hindi kami magkakasakitan, kung paano dadayain ang mga sampalan before the camera. But it’s an honor na masampal at masabunutan ng isang Jean Garcia.”
She says the very first scene she shot with Jean was really scary.
“First scene namin together, umiiyak siya, ako naman, galit na galit. I was so scared kasi hindi ako marunong ng ganung klaseng galit.
"Pero nagpapasalamat din ako sa director naming si Gil Tejada kasi ang galing niya in guiding me. Kinukuwento niya ang pinagmumulan ng bawat eksena para mo alam mo why your character is behaving that way.
"I feel so grateful kasi I felt I’m in safe hands with Jean and Direk Gil. They taught me na sa afternoon soap, kailangang mas mataas ang emotion mo. Andami ko talagang bagong natutuhan dito.”
Her role as the scheming Doris is really a good one. She is Jean Garcia’s best friend but it turns out she is secretly in love with Jean’s husband, Leandro Baldemor.
When Jean is imprisoned after Glenda Garcia used her as a drug mule smuggling cocaine abroad, Michelle then tries her best to seduce Leandro and when Jean is released from prison, she is shocked to know that her best friend and her husband are now living together.
Does her appearance in “Nakarehas na Puso” mean she’s staying here for her acting career?
“I can’t really say as I always take it one step at a time. Dito muna ako sa present moment.
"We’re still taping at ine-enjoy ko pa ito as I am really learning a lot of new things from my experience here.”
“Nakarehas na Puso” is replacing “The Fake Life” on GMA Afternoon Prime starting on September 26.
