DINA BONNEVIE did three series with GMA-7: “Cain at Abel”, “Anak ni Waray” and “The World Between Us”.
Now, she gets to do a sitcom with TV5, ‘Kalye Kweens’, where she gets to work with Alma Moreno, written and directed by Temi Abad.
They have already finished taping the entire season of 13 episodes.
It’s good her husband DV Savellano, former congressman of Ilocos Sur, doesn’t stop her from acting?
“He’s very supportive,” she says. “He said, hindi na kailangan pag-usapan ang career mo dahil when I met you, artista ka na.”
Would she consider joining her husband in politics?
“No, never. Kung maraming plastic sa showbiz, lalo na sa politika.
"Very nice sa harap mo, niyayakap ka pa, yun pala mole ng kalaban mo and just spying on you.”
She welcomes doing comedy after doing so many dramas.
“At least, naiiba ito. Nagpapatawa naman kami.
"Ness and I used to be best friends here pero nagkasira kami dahil kay Jeric Raval na boyfriend niya pero akong pinakasalan.
"Her character is always nagpapa-alta sociedad and she married a rich man na nakatira sa isang plush village, ang Alta Vista, na katabi ng aming barangay, ang Barangay Kapit Bisig.”
The problem is that Alma is the president of their homeowners association while Dina is the barangay captain of their place.
“So lagi kaming nagkaka-enkwentro due to various issues like problema sa tubig, problema sa basura, mga ganun.
"Ang nakakatawa rito, yung mga sitwasyon, si Ness kasi, mahilig magbida-bida and we get into all sorts of funny situations.”
So how is it working with Alma?
“We talk about everything. Ayoko lang, ang hilig niya sa horror movies, na ayoko naman kasi hindi ako makatulog.
"Pareho kaming nagkarelasyon with comedians, pero sabi ko, ako isa lang (Vic Sotto), but siya, dalawa na (Dolphy and Joey Marquez).
"We agreed that comedians nga sila on screen, but they are actually very serious in real life. Kami talaga ang mas kalog in real life.
"I could see Ness is a very hands on mom sa mga anak niya, lalo na kay Vito Marquez who also plays her son in the show. Maya’t maya, she checks on her kids.”
They’re now both grandmas. She asks her apos to call her Mama D and she tends to spoil them. Her daughter Danica is pregnant now. Is it an accident?
“No, they really made an effort to have another baby kasi sabi ni Danica, ayaw nilang gaya nila ni Oyo na dadalawa lang.
"At si Oyo, lima na ang anak kay Kristine kaya gusto nilang magdagdag din.”
She and her husband are busy putting up more restaurants after Victorino’s in Sct. Rallos St.
“Nagbukas na rin yung Deogracias offering Spanish dishes sa may Jamboree and soon, we’re opening an Italian restaurant called La Virginia sa may Sct. Rallos din.”
