ANGELI KHANG and Jay Manalo are still being seen in the sexy woman empowerment drama, “Girl Friday”, but they are now together again in “Selina’s Gold”.
Angeli plays the title role of Selina. In a world where wealth and power are usually acquired through violence, Selina uses her strongest weapon, her beauty and her body.
“Iba talaga itong ‘Selina’s Gold’ kasi it‘s more intense, maraming mahihirap na lines at mabibigat na words kasi period film ito at hindi ako magaling sa mga Tagalog words na malalalim,” she says.
“Thanks to Direk Mac as he really guided me kaya nagawa ko yung mga mahihirap na scenes required from me.
"Since third time na namin ito ni Kuya Jay Manalo, I’m now very comfortable with him. This is sexiest work we’ve done so far. Sa trailer pa lang, marami nang na-shocked.”
Set in a small town after the bombing of Pearl Harbor during the early days of World War II in the Philippines, “Selina's Gold” is the story of Selina, a young woman sold by her father (Rico Soliman) as payment for a debt.
She is forced to leave home and work as a helper for a wealthy, greedy middle-aged man, Tiago (Jay Manalo).
Tiago abuses and repeatedly rapes Selina. Left with no choice, Selina eventually accepts that this is now her life and tries to meet halfway with Tiago.
The only thing that motivates her and keeps her from escaping her miserable life is her hope of finding Tiago’s hidden stash of money and gold.
Selina also begins an affair with Domeng (Gold Aceron), Tiago’s oppressed blind helper, who secretly listens whenever Tiago is molesting Selina.
Things turn violent, when big revelations explode one after another and the Japanese soldiers arrive to occupy their town.
Can wealth compensate for the truth that Selina will discover?
Even if Selina were given all the money and gold in the world, will she ever heal from all the pain and trauma that she experienced in the hands of Tiago?
Also in the cast are Soliman Cruz, Mickey Ferriols, Azi Acosta, Archie Adamos, Aurora Sevilla and Gwen Garci.
Mac Alejandre himself wrote the story and script of “Selina’s Gold” and this is his third collaboration with K-Krush Angeli Khang.
After “Silip sa Apoy,” they worked together in the chart-topping ten episode series “’Wag Mong Agawin ang Akin.”
Meanwhile, this is Gold Aceron’s second movie with director McArthur C. Alejandre.
Their first movie was “May-December-January” that will have a nationwide theatrical release this October 12.
Alejandre says he is honored to work with Jay Manalo for the first time in a movie.
The last time they worked together was in the TV series “All My Life” for GMA-7 more than ten years ago.
