KATE VALDEZ started as a model then was signed up by GMA in 2015 and quickly cast as the sister of Ken Chan in the hit afternoon drama, “Destiny Rose”.
She also played supporting roles in “Onanay”, “Encantadia”, “Anak ni Waray” and “Sahaya”.
She is now launched to solo stardom in her own TV series, “Unica Hija”, which is described as drama-sci fi since Kate plays a character who is the result of cloning.
She will be paired with for the first time with Kelvin Miranda.
How does she feel about doing a lead role this time?
“Siempre, kinakabahan po pero mas nangingibabaw yung saya ko dahil pinagkatiwalaan ako ng GMA management na kaya ko nang magsolo bida after playing villain and supporting roles,” she says.
“Very challenging yung project for me kasi bale dalawa ang roles ko rito. One is Bianca and the other is Hope. But that is all I can share at the moment para hindi spoiler.”
She is confident that audiences will like the story of “Unica Hija”.
“I’m very grateful din kasi ang ganda talaga at naiiba yung project which is about cloning, na first time ipapakita sa isang ganitong show.
"Excited din po ako kasi karamihan ng cast members, ngayon ko pa lang nakatrabaho, including my leading man, si Kelvin.”
Also in the big powerhouse cast are Katrina Halili, Mark Herras, Buboy Garovillo, Faith Da Silva, Maricar de Mesa, Bernard Palanca, Athena Madrid (sister of Ruru),
Biboy Ramirez, Maybelyn de la Cruz, Issa Litton, Jennie Gabriel and Jemwell Ventenilla, with QC Councilor Alfred Vargas in a very special role.
