K BROSAS is one of the main hosts of “Sing Galing”, the toprating videoke singing game show on TV5 that won the best nonscripted entertainment show on Asian TV Creative Awards.
They will have their finals for the kiddie edition on December 3 and the finals for the regular contestants on December 10.
“I really enjoy hosting the show kasi ang gagaling lahat ng contestants,” says K.
“Wala kang tulak-kabigin sa husay nila. Yung mga bata, nakakaloka ang mga talent.
"Ilang beses na akong napaiyak just watching them sa pagkanta nila, kasi ang babata nila, pero amazing ang husay nila at such a young age.
"At wala sa kanilang pinilit lang ng magulang kaya sumali ha. Gusto nila talaga.
"At ang maganda, walang inggitan sa kanila. Naka-lock in kasi silang lahat sa hotel kaya naging magkakabarkada na sila.”
If she were the sole judge, she’d make them all win.
“Sila pa ang nagsasabi sa bawat isa na, ikaw ang mananalo. Naging malapit silang lahat sa puso ko.
"I heard their stories at naiyak ako dun sa batang dine-dedicate ang kanta niya sa mother niyang OFW na hindi niya nakikita for three years na, kasi walang perang pang-uwi rito.”
K aka Kakai aka Carmela Brosas has really come a long way from being a member of the group Gladys and the Boxers.
On TV, she started as a co-host in “Eat Bulaga” then also tried acting in sitcoms like “Idol Ko si Kap” and soaps like “Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin”.
She even played a villain in the Angel Locsin version of “Darna” as Divina Demonica.
Now, she’s one of local TV’s most familiar hosts and she also just starred in a movie, “Will You Marry?”, directed by Roni Velasco and shot on location in Copenhagen, Denmark.
She plays a Pinay mom who goes to Denmark to meet her Danish boyfriend she met online named Fritz.
She travels with her daughter played by Elise Joson who distrusts her foreigner boyfriend, Paul Lyderer.
It’s now showing on Netflix.
How was she during the pandemic?
“Siempre, nung first few months, nagka-anxiety rin ako kasi walang trabaho. But thanks to TV5, nabigyan ako ng maraming labada.
"Naging co-host ako ng ‘Lunch Out Loud’ and when I left it, heto nga itong ‘Sing Galing’, so tuloy-tuloy lang ang trabaho ko.”
She is also happy that her dream house is now finally complete after five years in the making.
Her previous contractor was fully paid but suddenly left without finishing her house.
“Idinemanda ko kasi hard earned money ko ang itinakbo niya,” she says.
“Sobra akong na-stress at kung mahina-hina kang tao, tiyak na bumigay ka na sa mga pinagdaanan ko. So I got another contractor at awa ng Diyos, natapos rin.”
The new house has three floors, three bedrooms with a room each for the maid and the driver.
All the furniture and furnishings are new.
“Lahat yan, I can proudly say na bunga ng sariling pagod at pagsisikap ko,” she says.
