LHARBY POLICARPIO HAPPY WITH HIS ROLE AS THEIR BARKADA'S MEDIATOR IN 'CALL ME PAPI' OPENS IN THEATERS DECEMBER 7

LHARBY POLICARPIO played one of the three lead characters in the acclaimed 2014 Cinema One Originals entry, “Esprit de Corps”.

His co-stars, JC Santos and Sandino Martin, went on to play bigger roles, specially JC who is now so busy doing movies and TV series.

Lharby appeared in some GMA soaps but his career didn’t take off like his colleagues did. What happened?

“I went into social media,” he says. “I became a content creator and I did modelling with different brands here and abroad.

"I also did a lot of traveling, mostly outside the country and I get to explore different worlds. I am happy for JC and Sandino na maganda ang takbo ng acting careers nila.”

He is also happy to be part of the sexy barkada comedy, “Call Me Papi”, released by Viva Films in theaters starting December 7.

He co-stars with Enzo Pineda, Albie Casino, Royce Cabrera and Aaron Concepcion, written and directed by Alvin Yapan.  What is his role in the movie?

“I play Mario. Call center agent ako na workaholic. My character will make you laugh kasi marami akong funny scenes dito.

"Nakaka-relate ako sa role and I saw myself in him kasi we’re more or less the same. Pareho kaming workaholic, hardworking, friendly, very caring sa family and friends.

"Kapag may problema, he makes the initial move para halika, ayusin nga natin ito.”

Why is the movie’s title “Call Me Papi”?

“Papi stands for friend at lahat kami rito, nakatira lang sa iisang bahay and we call each other Papi.

"Ako talaga, I call my closest friends, specially those who I really trust, Papi or Paps.

"Viewers will be able to relate sa characters namin in the movie which is about friendship and family relationships. Ang experiences namin dito, pinagdaraanan nating lahat in real life.”

How was it working with Enzo, Albie, Royce and Aaron?

“Inabot ng more than two years namin ginawa ang movie kasi paputol-putol ang shoot during the pandemic.

"Pero mas nakilala ko sila lahat sa set. Masaya silang kasama, very chill.

"We help each other sa shoot at may natutuhan din ako sa kanila. Na-feel kong kaibigan ko talaga sila.

"When we meet each other sa labas, we’re happy may nabuong friendship among us. so thanks dito sa movie for the gift of friendship.”

Some bashers chide him for his photos in social media taken in various places, saying he must have a sugar daddy who finances his  jetsetting lifestyle.

Lharby is obviously pissed and answered them back. He wrote:

“Sorry I just have speak up! The more hinahayaan mo these stupid and close minded people, nagiging tama para sa mga taong nakakabasa nito, lalo na yung mga hindi nagre-research ng tama.

"If I allow this to continue some people may start to believe the lies these guys have been saying here.

“First of all. Lord! 2022 na po. Being a content creator is not a new job, it’s been existing for years now. If you look at my social media platforms, you’ll see the brands I’ve worked with in the past years.

“Second, my lifestyle. It was my first time traveling to Europe with friends! Dream ko yun!

"Anong sugar daddy pinagsasabi niyo? I even posted partnerships with 2 brands while I was in Lisbon, Portugal. Before we left, I also did a project big enough to finance my entire trip!

“Judgmental lang talaga kayo to assume na wala akong source of income. Nakakahiya naman sa inyo dahil mas alam nyo pa buhay ko kesa sa akin.

"Are you happy? Do you enjoy doing this and hiding behind your phones?

"I feel sad for the people in your lives, to be friends with people like you who are not just insecure but also judgmental, it must be so hard and tiring for them.”
