MYLENE DIZON and Agot Isidro are both proud to be part of the powerhouse cast of the Metro-Manila Filmfest drama entry, “Family Matters”.

plays the daughter of lead couple Liza Lorena and Noel Trinidad while Agot plays their daughter in law, the wife of their eldest son, Nonie Buencamino.

Mylene’s last movies were in 2019, “Belle Doloeur” and “Sunod”.

“Ang tagal na rin, so I’m glad to be part of a new movie na tungkol sa pamilya at entry pa sa filmfest,” she says.

“James Blanco plays my husband at ang dalawa ko pang kapatid are Nikki Valdez and JC Santos. Palit-palitan kami sa pag-aalaga sa aming aging parents.”

What does she think of parents who think of their children as investments who can act as their caregivers in the future?

“Mali naman yun, that’s super wrong to make your children feel that it’s their obligation to secure your own future.

"If you want to serve your parents, it must be voluntary. It must be because you want to do it, not because you’re required to do it.

"Ako, as a parent, I believe it’s my responsibility to raise and nurture my two sons, but I will never obligate them to look after me.

"Hindi ako maniningil sa love na ibinigay ko sa kanila. I’d rather advise my children to take care of their own family in the future and to just be good persons.”

How about Agot? What is her opinion on the matter?

“Ako, wala akong anak, so I don’t expect anyone to take care of me. But I help in taking care of my siblings.

"We no longer have our parents so my family is my siblings and their children, but I’m not expecting in return na sila ang mag-aalaga sa akin kaya I help them. Walang ganu’n.”

Agot says she is loveless right now but she is happy.

“I feel complete. I feel happy even if I’m alone. Pero siempre, naiisip kong masaya pa rin kung may kasama ka.

"Pero hindi ko naman siya actively na hinahanap. It would be nice, it would be pleasant.

"But I feel it should be a gift na kusang dumarating at hindi hinahanap.”

She adds that during the holiday season, she feels a little sadness.

“Yes, may konting lungkot, but konti lang kasi sa kabuuan, happy pa rin naman ako.

"But iniisip ko na lang na baka kaya hindi pa ibinibigay sa iyo, kasi hindi ka pa handa. I just want someone who will accept me for what or who I am at hindi maga-attempt na baguhin ako.”

Agot is one celebrity who is very open about her personal views and she admits she felt sad when Leni didn’t win in the last election.

“But I guess we just have to accept who the people voted for. For a while, I thought of migrating but then, my work is here and all my loved ones are here.

"So I just pray that those who people voted for will fulfill all their promises to those who voted for them.”

Because she is so open about her views, she has plenty of bashers, like those who say she should really leave because she’s already “laos” or a hasbeen.

“Sorry na lang po sa bashers ko but I am here to stay. Hindi po ako laos kasi tuloy-tuloy ang trabaho ko, sa TV man at heto, may bago akong movie.

"I am still doing what I love to do. As for being vocal about my views, right yan ng kahit sinong mamamayan.

"We have to let the people who run our country know how we feel about them.

"Dapat nga, lahat, matutong magsalita and let our politicians know how they feel about how our country is being run.”
