NADINE LUSTRE’s last movie, “Greed”, was shown via streaming on Vivamax, so she’s now excited that her new movie, “Deleter”, is an official entry in the Metro Manila Filmfest and will be shown on the big screen.
“I’m looking forward to seeing myself again on the big screen,” she says at the grand mediacon of “Deleter” held at SM North’s Directors Club.
“I’m really glad that restrictions have been lifted and we can now watch movies in actual theatres again.
"Dapat naman talagang sa big screen manood ng movies, complete with Dolby sensurround for greater viewing experience, lalo na itong ‘Deleter’ na tiyak na mas matindi ang jump scares sa big screen.”
Nadine is already having a career on her own, no longer just identified as part of a love team.
“Yes, it’s nice to do projects without relying on a regular partner. In ‘Deleter’, wala akong love interest.
"As Lyra, I play a girl who just wants to be left alone. She’s wearing a lot of masks as she had a very traumatic past that she just wants to forget.
"But as the film shows, you cannot just erase or delete the past. When something happens to her friend, si Louise de los Reyes, she becomes an instrument in finding out what really happened to her.”
So how is it making a horror movie?
“I’m used to doing romcoms and dramas, so this is really something new for me.
"Nakakapagod siyang gawin, lalo na ito, techno-horror, so most of the time, I’m all alone at ang ka-interact ko is mga TV monitors lang.
"Wala akong kabatuhan ng linya, so I don’t even really see what’s happening on screen.
"Our director, Mikhail Red, just tells me kung ano ang dapat na maging reaction ko while I’m watching the monitor. So, ini-imagine ko na lang and it’s very challenging as I’ve never done anything like this before.”
It helps that she is a fan of horror movies.
“I’m really fond of watching scary films. Gusto ko yung natatakot ako, like one of the most scary films I’ve seen, ‘It Follows’.
"Nakaka-paranoid siya kasi may sumusunod doon sa bida an for several days after the movie, napapalingon talaga ako kasi feeling ko something is really following me.”
In real life, is there anything she’d want to delete from her past?
“Kung meron man, it’s yung pagiging magastos ko when I was younger. Noon kasi, I spend on things na looking back, hindi ko naman talaga kailangan.
"Gusto ko ring baguhin yung sobrang pagiging party girl ko noon. When I look back, parang it’s a waste of time.
"Now, mas maingat na ako about spending and going to parties. I’d like to think I’m now more responsible.”
