ANEEZA at the movie's presscon with director adolf alix, legendary writer Gna Marissa Tagasa, mom Glydel Mercado and co-stars Joaquin Domagoso and Kiko Ipapo
ANEEZA GUTIERREZ is being introduced in “That Boy in the Dark” as the leading lady of Joaquin Domagoso.
You might ask: Aneeza who? In terms of pedigree, Aneeza’s credentials are quite impressive.
She is the daughter of award-winning actors Tonton Gutierrez (best actor winner for “Saan Nagtatago ang Pag-ibig” and “Abot Kamay ang Pangarap”) and Glydel Mercado (a grand slammer for “Sidhi”).
Her paternal grandparents are also award-winners, Eddie Gutierrez and Liza Lorena. So, you can say she is an acting blue blood.
Aneeza is currently studying in Singapore but she came home to Manila for the holidays and she showed up at the presscon of “That Boy in the Dark” to help in its promotion.
Her Mommy Glydel says that the pretty Aneeza is a reluctant actress.
When Dadie Wowie Roxas, producer of ‘That Boy in the Dark’ and manager of Glydel and Joaquin, first offered her the role of Ellie, the mystery girl in the movie, she declined to do it.
She was requested to read the script first and when she did, she realized she’ll be playing a good role.
“Kasi basically, I’m shy,” says Aneeza. “But I like the role of Ellie so I was intrigued.
"Also, my mother promised to help me kasi she’s part of the movie’s cast. She plays the role of Joaquin Domagoso’s mother. So she will be there to guide me.”
So how is it shooting her very first movie?
“It’s a good experience. I enjoyed it. I felt everyone cared for me and they helped me in giving a good performance. Yung role ko kasi, nakikita ako ni Joaquin even if he’s blind.
"Parang I am asking for his help. When you watch the movie, you’d understand how Joaquin as Knight can see me kahit bulag siya.”
She also enjoyed working with her mother, and her uncle, Ramon Christopher who plays Joaquin’s dad, and auntie, Lotlot de Leon, who plays Joaquin’s guardian.
“Mababait silang lahat sa akin, pati si Nanding Josef as Joaquin’s grandfather and Kiko Ipapo in a very challenging role na hindi puedeng i-reveal dito. And of course, I also want to think our director, Adolf Alix Jr., for helping me all the way.”
