At the film's presscon, Joaquin as Knight, with co-stars Kiko Ipapo as Danos & Aneeza Gutierrez as Ellie

JOAQUIN DOMAGOSO reminds us of Aga Muhlach in 1987 when he was 18 years old and got Janice de Belen preggers. Their son, Luigi Muhlach, was born and is now 36 years old, married and with his own kids.
Aga just gained stardom then in “Bagets” and people thought his career was over. But then Mother Lily Monteverde made him star in “Batang Ama” and he eventually became one of the country’s top actors-matinee idols.
So naysayers who think that Joaquin’s career will go nowhere since he is now a young dad, better think again. It will really all depend on who’d be handling Joaquin’s career and help push it hard for him to get better projects.
And it so happened that Joaquin is now managed by Dadie Wowie Roxas, who’s leaving no stone unturned to make sure his alaga would be as successful as his former alaga, Isko Moreno,, who happens to be Joaquin's dad.
Dadie Wowie’s own dad just died but he still attended to the presscon of Joaquin’s new movie even if he were still in mourning.
It’s a good decision not to push Joaquin to marry Raffa Castro even if they already have a son, now 8 months old.
Studies show that such unions between very young parties usually end up in separation because they usually grow up and outgrow each other.
So, how has fatherhood changed Joaquin’s life?
“My parents and I are happy that we have a baby in our family, so no regrets,” he says.
“I have so many new feelings that I have never felt before, kasi nga I’ve never been a dad before. Both nakakatuwa at nakakaiyak na feelings.
"Talagang nag-iba na yung mundo ko because of him. I want to be a good and responsible dad for him.
"And mahirap po talagang umalis ng bahay ngayon kasi nami-miss ko siya agad.”
Meantime, Joaquin is busy promoting his launching movie “That Boy in the Dark”, which he’s so proud of as it has already given him four best actor awards from various international filmfests.
The most recent is as lead actor in the Latitude Film Awards in the U.K. and the film’s director, Adolf Alix Jr., also won a Silver Winner award in directing and it's legendary writer, Gina Marissa Tagasa, the best screenplay award.
In “That Boy In The Dark, Joaquin plays the role of Knight who met an accident while his parents Glydel Mercado and Ramon Christopher are having an altercation. Knight suffers a head trauma which damages his optic nerve and renders him blind at the age of 19.
His mother abandons him while his father runs off with another woman.
Knight is left under the care of his grandfather (Nanding Josef) and doting guardian Mamay Ched (Lotlot de Leon).
Because of his depressing disability, Knight becomes bitter and rebellious. But while he is denied of sight, he acquires the special skill of keen hearing.
Alone and abandoned in their family home, Knight then experiences an extraordinary encounter with a girl whose reflection he sees even in total darkness.
Eventually, Knight discovers the mystery behind the girl who happens to be his childhood friend Ellie (Aneeza Gutierrez), who appears to be asking for his help.
Knight eventually discovers the other details about a secret that shrouds the girl’s life and his rival Danos (Kiko Ipapo).
“That Boy In The Dark” is a gripping mystery-thriller that opens in cinemas nationwide starting January 8, 2023.
