MERCEDES CABRAL did a lot of prestige projects, mostly for Cannes best director Brillante Mendoza like “Kinatay”, “Serbis”, “Thy Womb” and “Captive”.
She also appeared in the Korean horror drama, “Thirst”. She was last seen in a TV series, “Huwag Kang Mangamba”.
Now, she’s back in a series with Vivamax in “Erotica Manila”, where she plays an aging actress who has an affair with a production assistant, played by Vince Rillon.
So how is it working with Vince and their director, Law Fajardo?
“I enjoyed working with both Vince and Direk Law. First time ko with both of them and I had fun kasi they’re both very professional.
"Si Direk Law, he listens, very collaborative. He made sure I’m comfortable sa mga pinagawa niya sa’kin. He met me halfway in the erotic scenes.”
Since she has many sexy scenes in the series, did she accept it right away?
“When I got the script, inisip ko nga muna if I would acept it. But when I accepted na, I gave it my all.
"Maganda kasi yung episode namin, may touch ng comedy, which I like, kasi mga nagawa ko before, puro drama, so this one is different.
"But this is where I realized mas madali magdrama kaysa magpatawa ng tao. Very challenging din ang role ko for me, kasi loud siya, high energy, very outgoing, which is not really me.”
The title of their series is “Erotica Manila”. How does she feel when people say that Vivamax is actually doing pornography?
“There’s really a thin line that divides erotica from pornography. Erotica is also sexually stimulating but much deeper, mas may importanteng story, mas may art than porn.
"Porn naman kasi has walang aesthetic value but just aimed to arouse its viewers sexually. In this series, the erotic scenes are all necessary to the story kaya ko tinanggap and we’re proud of it.”

It’s a sexplosive series with four stand-alone stories about the different fascinating sexcapades one can experience around Metro Manila. It streams on January 29, 2023, exclusively on Vivamax.
The first episode, “Cinema Parausan”, stars Azi Acosta of “Pamasahe” and Gawad Urian nominated actor - Alex Medina.
A story about a film buff who goes to an old Cineplex to watch a classic erotic film.
As he enters the old building, he discovers that the place not only screens erotic films but also has female and gay sex workers who offer extra service to its patrons. He also gets an offer of a promise of pleasure that he cannot resist.
“Girl 11” is the second episode, starring Josef Elizalde and Cara Gonzales. It’s about a news writer who escapes his worries and goes to a massage parlor offering a special service to customers.
After a group of girls line up for him to choose from, he immediately eyes girl #11. He gets his money’s worth and spends a lustful night with this special girl. But during their intimate and intense moment, girl 11 subtly sends him a secret message.
