DIRECTOR EASY FERRER has helmed films and series mostly for Regal, but he’s now with Vivamax, directing his first series for them, “Stalkers”.
Contrary to his name, he says it’s hard to direct a sexy vehicle for Vivamax.
“Yes, it’s not easy kasi hirap na hirap ako dahil may branding sila sa level ng sexiness na kailangang ma-maintain, so maraming requirements,” he says.
“Buti na lang, yung executive producer ko, inalalayan ako.
"Nanginginig ang kamay ko tuwing I’m shooting the sex scenes kasi wala naman akong experience sa heterosexual sex.
"Buti inalalayan ako ng lahat ng tao sa set, pati yung mga artista.”
He’s really thankful to his stars who did sex scenes in the movie: Rose Van Ginkel, Wilbert Ross, Chloe Jenna, Rash Flores, Shienna Yu, Millen Gal.
“Sila mismo, tinutulungan nila ako sa mga eksena nila,” he adds.
“They were all very collaborative. Ako nga ang nasa-shock sa suggestions nila, kapag sinasabi nilang why don’t we do it like this. Na mas bold and daring pa kaysa sa naiisip kong gawin.”
He consults the people on the set after doing a sexy scene.
“Yes, tinatanong ko lahat ng tao sa paligid ko, will you be aroused by this?
"Kasi importante for me na alam kong bebenta siya sa viewers, kaya big challenge talaga for me doing the sexy scenes.
"Before we do each bed scene, I ask the EP kung nagawa na ba ito sa ibang Vivamax shows.
"Kapag sinabi niyang nagawa na, then binabago ko, kasi I want to show something new na hindi pa napanood ng Vivamax subscribers before.”
The series is set in two different worlds: a call center and a massage parlor or spa.
“Lahat sila, ngayon ko lang nakatrabaho kasi most of the stars I’ve work with before are taga-Regal.
"But although first time ko silang nakatrabaho, we all got along fine kasi very cooperative sila. Very committed sila sa craft nila kaya gumaan ang work ko as a director.”
He says the concept of a project about a stalker has been with him for some years now.
“Originally, movie ito, but when I pitched to Viva, they wanted a series so I have to re-write it several times.
"I had to expand the story and add more characters kasi four episodes ito as a series.”
Why make a show about stalkers?
“I’ve always been intrigued by the concept and ‘Stalkers’ will help us understand to see what is going on in their minds.
"Why do they do this? Ano bang childhood nila?
"Did something happen in their past that led them to do this? O uhaw lang ba sila sa attention?”
Wilbert Ross is the main stalker as he stalks Rose Van Ginkel, but Direk Easy says there are other characters who also do their own stalking in the series.
Wilbert says he’s glad to be paired anew with Rose Van Ginkel as they’ve worked together several times before.
“Kaya comfortable na kami sa isa’t isa,” he adds. “For this movie, I have to practice yung laging dilat ang mga mata ko. Kasi chinito po ako kaya maliit yung eyes ko and si Direk Easy, gusto niya lakihan ko yung mga mata ko.”
He must be so used to doing sex scenes by now, considering he has done many other movies and series where he did such daring scenes.
“Naku, hindi ko po masasabing sanay na sanay na ako sa sex scenes. And I don’t know if masasanay ba ako ever doing such scenes.
"Siempre, nakaka-conscious pa rin, but alang-alang sa ikagaganda ng movie or series, I am always willing to cooperate with our director.”
He confesses that he’s been stalked by a fan before.
“Yes, lagi niya akong sinusundan, pati sa condo kunsaan ako nakatira. Minsan, nakapasok siya hanggang sa elevator so ini-report ko siya sa building administrator at binawalan siya."
