DIREK ADOLFO ALIX JR. ECSTATIC TO DIRECT NORA AUNOR, GINA ALAJAR & ALFRED VARGAS IN ONE MOVIE, 'PIETA'

DIRECTOR ADOLFO ALIX JR. is directing Ate Guy anew in “Pieta”, a drama produced by Councilor Alfred Vargas.

He wants to stress that it’s an original story he wrote and not a remake of the Carlo Caparas movie that earlier starred Vivian Velez and Charito Solis.

Alfred plays Isaac who spent years in jail for parricide.

He’s wrongly accused of killing his own dad and now that he has regained his freedom, he returns to his mother, Nora Aunor as Rebecca, to find out the truth about what really happened that fateful night when his father died.

But his mom is now nearly blind and is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. She no longer remembers what really happened. She can no longer even recognize Isaac, her own son.

She is currently being taken care of by a long-time loyal friend, Gina Alajar as Beth, who advises Isaac to just forget about the past and his search for the truth so he can move forward in his life.

Isaac wants to turn over a new leaf and start life anew, but his adversaries won’t leave him alone.

Eventually, he’d be able to ferret out the truth and what he discovers will shock not only him but even more so the audience.

Direk Adolf is thankful to Alfred for agreeing to bankroll the movie.

They are currently working in the new GMA-7 drama series, “AraBella” starring Camille Prats and Shayne Sava, and Direk Adolf pitched the “Pieta” to Alfred and he liked it.

He’s now excited to direct two of the country’s most awarded actresses, Nora and Gina, together in one movie.

“I saw Ate Guy in ‘Bona’ and Direk Gina in ‘Salome’ and ‘Orapronobis’ sa CCP.

"I eventually got to direct them, Ate Guy in ‘Padre de Pamilya’ and in ‘Kontrabida’, si Direk Gina in ‘Mater Dolorosa’.

"My favorite actress then was Lolita Rodriguez and they’ve both worked with her before, so nagpapakuwento ako sa kanila about their experiences with Lolita.

"Direk Gina has worked with her in ‘Lucia’ and Ate Guy has worked with her in ‘Ina Ka ng Anak Mo’ at ang gaganda ng kuwento nila about Lolita.”

He’s very happy with the stories they shared with him.

“We have to get a good sense of film history kasi the younger generations, hindi na nila kilala yung mga naunang artista and director natin.

"E, wala namang nagkukuwento. I’m really glad that I got the chance to work with the late Anita Linda kasi I learned more about Gerry de Leon, her director in ‘Sisa’.”

They’re about to start shooting “Pieta”.

Here’s hoping there will be no hitches so they can show it in time for Mother’s Day in May, since this is primarily a touching story about a mother and her son.
