AZI ACOSTA is now one of the busiest Vivamax nymphets.
After playing supporting roles in “Babaeng Nawawala sa Sarili” and “Selina’s Gold”, she was launched to full stardom in “Pamasahe” that went number one in the streaming platform.
She then did another lead role in “Cinema Parausan” of the series “Erotica Manila” as a single mom who offers extra service to moviegoers looking for sex in a sleazy moviehouse.
And now, she plays another lead role in “Suki”, written and directed by Albert Langitan, who’s a veteran of various teleseryes on GMA-7 and ABS-CBN.
How different is “Suki” from her past works?
“This is definitely my most daring,” she says. “Mas matindi ang mga ginawa ko rito considering my role as a pokpok.
"I think na, dito, I out-performed myself in my past roles. I play Eba, the star stripper sa isang night club for men.
"May nanay ako, na aging pokpok at drug addict, played by Miss Yda Manzano, na sinasampal-sampal ako.”
Since she is unhappy at home, she tries to look for love somewhere else.
“Ayun nga, na-in love ako sa isang macho dancer sa isang gay bar, played by John Flores as Adan.
"Naging suki niya ako and na-in love din siya sa akin.
Nagsama kami sa usapang walang magseselos kahit lumabas kami with other customers, pero hindi nangyari yun.”
She is paired with a total newcomer who acts in his first movie, John Flores. How was it?
“Pareho lang naman kaming baguhan, but mas bago siya kasi first movie pa lang niya ito. So parang bininyagan ko siya rito.
"Okay naman siya, may dramatic scenes kami na so challenging, kasi umiiyak ako habang nagbabatuhan kami ng lines, but naitawid naman namin.
"Puro first time ko silang nakatrabaho rito, including si Direk Albert, and si Jiad Arroyo as my suitor who offered to give me a new life but I rejected him at mas pinili ko ang kapwa ko pokpok.”
Also supporting them in the movie are Katya Santos, Gwen Garci, comedian Chad Kinis and sexpot Alona Navarro as Azi’s rival dancer in the club who tries to steal John Flores from her.
“Suki” is about the uncommon love between two sex workers.
