SANYA LOPEZ is happy she gets to do an action vehicle in her new show, “Mga Lihim ni Urduja”, where she plays the title role no less.
“Iba rin kasi ang challenge ng doing action scenes,” she says. “After I did ‘First Yaya’ and ‘First Lady’ na drama-comedy, talagang welcome for me itong ‘Mga Lihim ni Urduja’ as my next project.”
She’s also glad to be reunited with Kylie Padilla and Gabbi Garcia, who played her sisters in the “Encantadia” reboot in 2016.
“I played Danaya, Kylie was Amihan and Gabbi was Alena.
"Since then, marami nang nangyari sa mga buhay at career namin, and now, panay ang kwentuhan namin sa set ng ‘Mga Lihim ni Urduja’ to catch up with each other’s lives.
"We’re also glad na kasama rin namin dito ang ibang co-stars namin sa ‘Encantadia’ like Zoren Legaspi, Rochelle Pangilinan and Pancho Magno, kaya ang saya namin sa set.”
She also finds her role as Hara (Princess) Urduja as a very demanding one.
“I was really hoping for an action-project at heto, ang bait ng GMA, binigay naman. I was really surprised that I got the part of Hara Urduja, whose courage as warrior princess in Pangasinan is legendary.
"I know I will be involved in a lot of action scenes and fight scenes kaya naman I have to prepare for it physically.”
Sanya will appear in the sequences set in the past, during pre-colonial times, at the kingdom of Tawalisi where she reigns as Hara Urduja, a mystical warrior queen who rules a formidable army of strong, courageous and battle-ready women.
She’s responsible for leading her followers and maintaining peace in their kingdom, what with some power-hungry factions wanting to dethrone her and steal her mystical powers.
Eventually, her story will intertwine with the stories of Kylie Padilla as Gem and Gabbi Garcia as Crystal in the modern world.
Supporting them is a star-studded powerhouse cast of seasoned actors headed by Zoren Legaspi as Maestro Marius, the scheming head of Mission Urduja tasked to find the warrior princess' missing necklace with jewels that serve as powerful amulets and
Jeric Gonzales as Agent Greg, a special cop assigned to protect Kylie and Gabbi in their special operation.
Then there’s Arra San Agustin as Valencia, an alluring bounty hunter who specializes in disguises; Rochelle Pangilinan as Dayang Salaknib, Urduja’s most trusted amazon general;
Pancho Magno as Kenzo, the scary and most brutal member of the squad of huntsmen; Winwyn Marquez as Dayang Iloguin, the cunning general of Urduja who turns out to have her own personal agenda.
Also in the cast are Michelle Dee as Freya, a highly skilled female bounty hunter; Kristoffer Martin as Ryker, another bounty hunter who’s an expert in gadgets and weaponry,
and Vin Abrenica as Onyx, the wily leader of the hunters who is determined to get Urduja’s jewels at all cost.
This is directed by Jorron Lee Monroy, Dominic Zapata and Raff Malabunga.
It will start airing on February 27, replacing the hit historical fantasy, “Maria Clara at Ibarra”, right after the number one TV news program, “24 Oras”.
When asked about her lovelife, Sanya says it’s still zero. What’s her requirement in having a BF?
“If ever, gusto ko yung ready for a serious relationship at hindi yung naglalaro lang as I don’t have time for that,” she says.
“Siempre, it will help if he’s good-looking, mature, mabait, cool and God-fearing. Ang dasal ko nga kay God, send me someone na talagang karapat-dapat para sa akin.
"I’m not in a hurry naman. Kasi as of now, career pa rin ang priority ko as GMA continues to give me great projects.
"Takot din akong ma-in love kasi passionate ako at ibinibigay ko ang lahat.
"So alam ko, the Lord will send him to me at the right time na okay na akong pagsabayin ang having a busy career at lovelife.”
