WENDELL RAMOS is elated to have a new soap, “AraBella”, after his recent stint in the hit “Prima Donnas 1 & 2”. “AraBella” will replace “Unica Hija” that will end this Friday.
It will start airing on GMA’s Afternoon Prime this Monday, March 6.
And this time, Wendell is glad as he will be in the same show with his son Saviour. So how is it working with his son?
“We don’t have many scenes together kasi ako, mostly with Camille Prats, at siya naman, with the young stars who play Camille’s daughters, Shayne Sava and Althea Ablan, kasi classmates sila in school,” says Wendell.
What’s his role in “AraBella”?
“I play Gary, may feelings ako for Camille but dalawa kami ni Alfred Vargas na may pagtingin sa kanya. Pero may twist sa pagkatao ni Gary na ikagugulat ng viewers.”
He’s so fortunate that he is always given a new assignment and he doesn’t have to wait long in between projects.
“Ako naman, I just accept what GMA gives to me and it’s really a blessing na laging maganda ang projects na ibinibigay nila sa’kin like ‘Onanay’ on primetime, tapos the two seasons of ‘Prima Donnas’ and now, ‘AraBella’.
"God is so good kasi the creative team always gives me a good project.”
He is now 44 years old but he has maintained his youthful looks and hunky physique. Would he still be willing to do sexy scenes?
“Sexy? Siguro depende sa project. Kung maganda ba talaga ang material. At also, it depends kung kailangan talaga sa eksena at sa magiging pag-uusap namin ng director, ok lang siguro.”
What advice does he give to Saviour?
“To take his work seriously and always be professional. Maswerte siya kasi maganda ang management team na napuntahan niya, ang GMA Sparkle, so matutulungan talaga siya.”
How about Saviour, how does he feel being in the same show as his dad?
“Si Papa, I can feel yung pagkatatay niya rito. Magkasama kami sa tent and I’m very open in sharing my feelings with him.
"Light lang ang scenes namin together. Pero kapag iba ang kaeksena ko, I ask him, Pa, kung ikaw ito, how would you do the scene.
"Nagi-script reading kami together, ang ganda ng bonding namin. Natutuwa talaga akong lagi ko siyang nakakausap.
"Nagkakasama na kami, natututo pa ako sa kanya in my role as Ed.”
He’s also glad to get the chance to work with senior stars like Nova Villa and Ronnie Lazaro.
“I’m very passionate about acting, so I want to learn from the veteran actors na tumagal sa industry. I also always ask our acting coaches para magawa ko ng tama ang acting ko.”
In the story, he is paired with Althea Ablan. How is it? “It helps na kakilala ko na si Althea even before.
"Kilala niya kasi ang cousins ko at nagkakasama na kami so it helps para maging comfortable na kami in our scenes together.
"Enjoy rin ako doing this show with the other young stars na sa story, magkaklase kami lahat sa school, sina Shayne Sava and Abdul Rahman, so don’t fail to watch us starting this Monday.”
