ALTHEA ABLAN gained lots of fans in her role as Donnabelle in the hit two seasons of “Prima Donnas” when she was 14 years old.
“Sa amin kasing tatlong magkakapatid sa story, ako yung pinakapalaban,” she says. “Viewers liked my fighting stance, na ako yung tipong hindi paaapi.”
She celebrated her 18th birthday last October 7 with a grand debut and now, she’s given a follow up project in “AraBella”, where she plays Bella.
“Maganda yung role ko kasi bida-kontrabida siya,” she says.
“Sa story, nawala yung anak ni Ate Camille Prats when she was a little girl and for many years, hinahanap niya ito.
"Then two girls presented themselves as her daughter, ako at si Shayne Sava.”
So who is the real missing daughter of Camille?
“Sa kuwento po kasi, as a little girl, napulot ako nina Tita Nova Villa and Tito Ronnie Lazaro at sila ang nagpalaki sa akin.
"Nang lumaki ako, they presented me to Ate Camille but ang intention nila is kuwartahan lang siya kasi con-artists sila rito.
"Ako po yung tunay na missing daughter, pero yung role ko, bida-kontrabida po kasi ako yung maldita at si Shayne Sava ang api-apihan.
"Kasi ganun po ang naging pagpapalaki sa character ko, matapang ang personality niya.”
She loves working with her senior co-stars, notably Camille, Nova, Ronnie, Alfred Vargas and Wendell Ramos.
“I enjoy it when they share their experiences in the industry kasi mas matagal na sila sa amin and they give insights about acting.
"They tell us the do’s and don’ts in showbiz para tumagal ang career mo. And I really welcome that kasi alam ko namang marami pa akong dapat matutuhan sa craft namin as actors.”
She also enjoys working with Direk Adolf Alix.
“He’s so easy to work with at magaan ang trabaho sa set.
"Super hands on siya as a director, mula sa pagse-set up ng eksena, acting ng mga artista and he’s open when his actors shares suggestions on how to do a scene.
"Basta he reminds us that since this is an afternoon drama, dapat bigger ang movements and emotions that you show on cam.”
Althea is in grade 12 so she’s graduating this year from high school.
“Talagang hindi ko po pinabayaan ang pag-aaral ko as I want to go to college.
"I plan to take up tourism or a business course kasi I’ve invested part of my earnings in a take out food business called Gourmet in a Box.
"Sana it will prosper, but siempre, first love ko pa rin ang acting and don’t miss ‘AraBella’ when it starts airing this Monday at 3:25 PM.”
