MIKOY MORALES HAPPY TO HAVE A NEW MOVIE, 'WORKING BOYS 2: CHOOSE YOUR PAPA', AND A NEW STAGE PLAY, 'DICK TALK', WHERE HE PLAYS A METROSEXUAL

MIKOY MORALES is a Kapuso actor discovered when he joined the Protege artista search in 2011 when he was only 18 years old.

He was runner up then to Jeric Gonzales and Ruru Madrid, who now both play lead roles in teleseryes. He is glad that after 12 years, he’s still very much around.

“I’m just thankful kasi hindi naman ako pinababayaan ng GMA-7,” he says. “Lagi akong may project.

"I’ve been part of ‘Bubble Gang’ sinc 2015 and I also get to do other shows like ‘Pepito Manaloto’ and teleseryes like ‘Sirkus’, ‘The Gift’ with Alden Richards and the big hit, ‘Lolong’, with Ruru that will have a Part 2 this year.”

He is also happy that he now gets to be one of the lead stars in Viva Films’ hilarious comedy, “Working Boys 2: Choose Your Papa”, which is now showing in theaters nationwide.

“Bale this is my second movie with Viva kasi I was also part of the fantasy-comedy ‘Mang Jose’ where I played the son of Janno Gibbs,” he says.

“I feel so lucky to be given the chance to work with my co-actors in the movie na ngayon ko lang nakatrabaho, sina Wilbert Ross, Nikko Natividad and Vitto Marquez who are all from the Kapamilya network, and Andrew Muhlach na Viva talent talaga.”

He admits he was apprehensive at first.

“Kasi first time ko to work with all of them, so nakakapanibago. Nawala kasi ako sa teritoryo ko, sa comfort zone ko. I have no idea kung paano sila magtrabaho.

"But we quickly jelled sa location shoot, so walang naging problema at all and I had fun working with all of them.

"It’s also my first time to work with Bayani Agbayani, who plays our uncle in the story, and our director, Paolo O’Hara. We all collaborated to make sure our scenes together will work well on screen.”

Mikoy and his barkada’s funniest scene in the movie is when they all danced like macho dancers for Madam, played by Marissa Sanchez.

What they did not know is that she is videotaping their performance and sending it to their girlfriends, who all got mad at them.

But the whole sequence really belongs to Marissa Sanchez, who is the mother Bob Jbeili.

She wants revenge on Mikoy and the Working Boys for making fun of her son earlier.

So after doing drama in ‘Baby Boy, Baby Girl’ as a wronged wife, Marissa now makes us laugh as a wronged mom who wants vengeance for her only son.

Going back to Mikoy, he’s also active in the theater and will appear on a stage play, “Dick Talk”, to be staged at the RCBC Theatre in Makati from April 15 to 16, 18 to 21 and 13.

He plays Cecil, an effeminate metro-sexual who insists that he is not gay.

“It’s a play that will challenge stereotyped and outdated notions about men and their manhood, like toxic masculinity, and I’m so happy to be a part of this production.

"Don’t miss it as it’s very human, very relatable and very entertaining from start to finish. It will be an eye opener about men and masculinity, pero tatawa kayo.”
