BEA BINENE is happy that her first project with Viva is now about to be shown on Viva One this May 1, “The Rain in Espana”.
“I’m really excited kasi all my life, I was with GMA where I started as a child actress,” she says. “Bale 18 years ako in my stay with them, kaya now, it’s like I’m starting all over again.”
Was it hard for her to establish new ties with Viva?
“Hindi naman, nakakapanibago lang kasi lahat ng friends ko from wau back, naiwan lahat sa GMA.
"But lahat sila sa Viva, very welcoming. I was able to quickly gain new friends here in my new home studio.
"Lahat ng mga nakatrabaho ko rito, nag-bonding kami at nagkasundo agad and now I feel that I belong to a new family.”
What can she say now that her batchmate, Barbie Forteza, is one of the biggest Kapuso stars?
“I am so happy for her, lalo na sa success ng ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’. We still text each other and I congratulated her sa magandang takbo ng career niya.”
What’s her role in “The Rain in Espana”?
“I play the role of Via. The series is about friendship and sa aming barkada, ako bale yung tita, yung manang na conservative who reminds us kapag nasa labas kasi at gumigimik, o tama na, umuwi na tayo.”
She’s able to relate with her role well.
“Kasi in real life, ganoon din naman ako, very tita, family oriented. Hindi ako mahilig lumabas.
"Bahay, work then bahay lang ako. Hindi ako mahilig magpunta sa clubs, pero dito, sa bonding namin, nagpunta kami sa Nectar sa BGC at nag-enjoy naman ako.”
Bea’s circle of friends in the show consists of Heaven Peralejo as Luna, Krisha Viaje as Yanna, Nicole Omillo as Kiera and Aubrey Caraan as Samantha.
Also with their camp is Gab Lagman as Sevirous or Sevi, the captain of the school’s basketball team who has secret feelings for Heaven. They’re from UST.
The main leading man is Marco Gallo as Kalix, and his friends include Andre Yllana (the son of Aiko and Jomari) as Adonis, Frost Sandoval (son of Lara Morena) as Leo, and Gabbi Padilla as Amethyst.
They’re from Ateneo. The series is directed by Ted Boborol, who did the hit movies “Vince, Kath & James” and “Finally Found Someone”.
Bea happily reports that aside from the series “The Rain in Espana”, which will start streaming on Viva One starting May 1, Viva has also given her a new movie, “Will You Be My Ex”, which topbills Julia Barretto and Diego Loyzaga.
“Tapos na po naming i–shoot, under the direction of Real Florido,” she says.
“Magpi-pictorial na nga po kami. This will be shown po in theaters, not streaming. Malapit na nga raw i-release, e.”
Does she play the third wheel in the Julia-Diego romance?
“Kasama ako rito ni Diego sa trabaho and we become good friends. Si Julia, dati niyang girlfriend in college pero nag-break sila and then they meet again. Magiging kami rin ni Diego, pero hindi naman kontrabida ang dating ko.
"Ngayon ko lang sila nakatrabaho kasi Kapamilya sila at Kapuso ako. I’m glad naka-work ko sila sa Viva and I really enjoyed working with them.”
There was once a report that she is already officially engaged to be married. How true?
“Naku, chismis lang po. Sa totoo lang, wala po akong lovelife. Puro work lang ako ngayon.”
