SEN. BONG REVILLA’s new show, the action-comedy, “Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis”, will start airing on June 4, replacing the GMA talent search, “The Clash”, which will have its finals on May 28.
“I want to thank GMA for all their support,” he says. “Talagang ginastusan ang show at hindi tinipid.
"The pilot episode was shot for three days, parang pelikula ang treatment.”
The show is a re-imagining of his hit movie with his wife, Lani Mercado, shown in 1994 with the same title.
It was such a big hit that it even had a sequel in 1997, “Yes Darling, Walang Matigas na Pulis 2”.
So why didn’t Lani herself reprise her own role in the TV reboot?
“She’s so busy with her work in congress and with our family, so ayaw na muna niyang mag-showbiz,” he says.
“But she was the one who selected kung sino ang makakapareha ko, si Beauty Gonzales.”
So how is Beauty as his overjealouos and always suspicious wife in the show?
“Lani made the right choice, kasi napakagaling ni Beauty. Yung tinawag pa lang niya nang pasigaw yung name ko sa show, Tulume! Ang galing na agad niya.
"We are all having fun on the set. Kasama si Max Collins as the girl na pinagseselosan ni Beauty. Tawanan lang kami nang tawanan.”
Who directs the show?
“We have two directors, Enzo Williams and Frasco Mortiz, and they’re both good. Malalaki ang action scenes dito.
"Ginamitan ng car chase, may speedboat pa and helicopter. GMA really gave a big budget for the whole show.
"We also have big stars in the cast like Ronnie Ricketts, ER Ejercito, Jeric Raval, Jimmy Santos, Dennis Padilla and many others.”
How about a movie?
“We’re thinking of joining the Metro-Manila Filmfest in December. Ang dami kasing nagre-request kasi wala silang trabaho, from crew to actors and stuntmen.
"Sana nga, matuloy kaming sumali to help them.”
As a senator, Bong is proud to shepherd the passage of another important bill, which makes permanent the Teaching Supplies Allowance for Public School Teacher, during the deliberation at the chamber’s plenary session on May 10.
“Ang teachers kasi, sa halip na gastusin nila yung kanilang sahod para sa pamilya nila, nag-aabono pa sila para sa pambili ng mga chalk, ballpen, bond paper, at pagbili ng load lalong-lalo during the time of the pandemic.
"Yan po yung mga dagdag gastos para sa mga guro,” says Bong, who is the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Civil Service, Government Reorganization and Professional Regulation raised.
Clearly, he has the welfare of our poor and underpaid public school teachers in his heart and mind.
