ASHLEY ORTEGA’s “Hearts on Ice” is ending this Friday night and she is thankful to all those who followed it since it started airing last March.
“It’s been a memorable four months,” she says. “I got a lot of positive feedback not only for my performance but also for the show itself.
"My role as Ponggay, the figure skater who underwent lots of trials in her young life, is one of the most memorable characters I’ve ever played in my entire career and I’m thankful to GMA for giving me the chance to play her on screen.”
She says viewers should not miss the last few episodes of “Hearts on Ice” as they’re all very exciting.
“May mga pasabog pang mangyayari kaya huwag na huwag kayong bibitiw,” she adds.
“It’s very fulfilling for me to play a figure skater as it feels like I’m living my dream of starring in my own series featuring my skills on ice which I started learning when I was only six years old, thanks to my parents who supported me all the way.”
She says doing the show is not an easy task.
“Taping the show is hard because of all the falls, cuts, bruises I had while doing the ice skating scenes. But it’s all worth it as the show is really so satisfying.
"I also want to thank my co-stars, led by Xian Lim as my leading man, for all their support, including our director, Dominic Zapata, who is so understanding and really took good care of me all throughout the show’s taping.”
Now that the show is ending, Ashley is elated that she got another assignment right away.
This time, she is shooting a movie entitled “As If It’s True”, with Khalil Ramos as her leading man.
Their co-stars are Adrianna So, Marnie Lapus, John Silverio and Angelie Sanoy.
This is produced by IdeaFirst Company of Perci Intalan and Jun Lana, directed by John Rogers who also co-wrote the script with Shane David.
This will be an official entry in the next Cinemalaya Independent Filmfest and they’ll also enter it in film festivals abroad.
Ashley will play the role of Gemma in the love story about relationships among Gen Z young people.
“Like figure skating na pangarap kong magampanan at nangyari naman in ‘Hearts on Ice’, this movie is another dream come true for me kasi noon ko pa rin dream na makagawa ako ng movie na entry sa Cinemalaya,” says Ashley.
She is supposed to have intimate kissing scenes with Khalil in movie.
This is the first time she will be doing such scenes. How does she feel about it?
“It will be a challenge for me but I’m now 24 years old, so I feel I can do more mature scenes at part ito ng pagiging aktres ko.
"It’s good Khalil is my partner kasi pareho kaming Kapuso talents so I feel comfortable with him.
"I know na napakahusay niyang aktor and he’s also a real gentleman, kaya naman I’m confident we can collaborate well to come up with a really good movie.”
