THE ALL-FILIPINO BROADWAY musical about Philippine history opened big at the historic Broadway Theatre on July 20 and the reviews are great.

Many celebrities attended the affair, including Mark Bautista who played Ferdinand Marcos in the show’s London and Seattle production.

Also present were actresses Rachel Alejandro, Yassi Pressman and Yam Concepcion, co-producers Bobby Garcia and Girlie Rodis, Fil-Am actress Tia Carrere, Korean celeb Daniel Dae Kim, Director Spike Lee, and playwright David Henry Wang.

An eye-catching big passenger jeepney is in the theatre and folks have their photos taken in front of it, including Lea Salonga, who is part of the show’s cast.

"Here Lies Love" is a rousing musical with music by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, and with lyrics by Byrne.

The musical is based on Byrne's and Slim's concept music album based, in turn, on Byrne's research on the life of former Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos.

The musical's title refers to the convicted former first lady’s desired epitaph

The musical's score is described as "disco pop.

Variety says that the show directed by Alex Timbers (“Moulin Rouge”) is such an extreme sensory feat, unlike any other attempted musical before on Broadway.

Entertainment weekly wrote that musical is a history lesson and disco dance party and the all-Filipino cast does a marvelous job.
