CHRISTINE BERMAS and Nicco Loco admitted that they have been in a relationship for 17 months now.
As a matter of fact, when they attended the zoom presscon of their movie, ‘Manyak’, they are both in Canada where Nicco introduced Christine to his parents and other family members.
"I am so happy to meet his folks," says Christine. "Nicco's family raised him well as a good guy, a nice guy.
"His parents are super caring, sobrang sarap sa feeling for me to meet all of them. Lahat sila sobrang bait, sobrang sweet."
So how did they meet?
“We met on TV while Christine was promoting her movie, ‘Siklo’, and me, our series ‘Love at the End of the World’ and I was the first one who said Hi to her," he says.
“We hit it off well kasi I’ve seen her movies and I think she’s a great actress. Her acting style is not theatrical, it’s all in her eyes which is the window of our soul.
"Now, we’ve been together for 17 months now And it’s great that we finally got to work together.”
What does he like in her?
“She’s one of the most caring persons I’ve ever met and I admit that I’m not the easiest person to get along with, so I admire her patience.
"I’m also impressed by her dedication to her craft as an actress. She is really taking it seriously.”
And what does Christine appreciate in him?
“He’s actually a nice and gentle person, good inside and out. He maybe a foreigner but pusong Pinoy na talaga siya.
"He’s also very protective of me. I’m glad to get to work with him because we learned more about each other.
"At first, I thought it would be awkward but we got to help each other to do our scenes together well.”
They are truly happy to get to be paired in “Manyak’, an erotic suspense-thriller written and directed by award-winning director Carlo Alvarez, whose previous crime thrillers “Sabado” and “Tres” have won awards here and abroad.
In “Manyak”, Christine Bermas plays Desiree. She gets a phone call from her sister Myla (Sheree Bautista), asking her to stay at their house while she and her son go on vacation. Myla’s husband, Ken (Joko Diaz), is also off to Cebu.
There have been reports of break-ins and burglary in their area, so Myla’s asking for Desiree’s help. Adam (Nico Locco), Desiree’s boyfriend, sees this as an opportunity for them to spend more time together.
After two days, Adam has to leave for work, leaving Desiree all alone. She feels that she is being watched by someone, and true enough, somebody in a ski mask has sneaked inside the house without her knowledge.
But the man is not after any precious valuables. It’s Desiree that he actually desires. And he rapes her. But somehow, Desiree ends up unsure if the crime really happened or was it just a terrible nightmare?
What leads to her confusion? How will Desiree deal with her nagging fear that the intruder might return? And who is this “manyak” who threatens her. If she can’t cry out for help, how then will she get justice?
Christine Bermas is one of Vivamax’s most bankable stars. Her filmography includes “Island of Desire”, “Scorpio Nights 3”, “Nightbird”, and “Hilom”.
“Manyak” is a reunion project between Carlo Alvarez and Italian-Canadian Nico Locco after their acclaimed 2019 movie, “Sabado”.
