WINWYN MARQUEZ is so glad to be part of GMA Pictures first offering after the pandemic, “The Cheating Game”, which will have its premiere night tonight at SM North.
She plays the role of Vanessa, a female executive and a strong woman who gets entangled with Rayver Cruz and Julie Anne San Jose.
“I’m happy to work with both Rayver and Julie Anne kasi wala nang kapaan. I’ve worked with both of them before so we’re relaxed with each other.
"Si Martin del Rosario, who plays Julie Anne’s first boyfriend, it’s our first time to work together, but may rapport kami agad.”
She adds that she had fun with the whole cast.
“I enjoyed working with all of them kasi nga ang gagaling nilang lahat, so dapat galingan ko rin.
"They’re so committed with their roles at nahahawa ako sa commitment nila. At dahil naging very comfortable ako in their company, they were able to help me to interpret my role as Vanessa effectively.”
How is her baby daughter, Luna?
“She’s okay, a happy baby. She turned one year old last April 30. Sobrang nakakatuwa na.
"Ang daddy ko nga (Joey Marquez), naloloko sa kanya, e. Gusto lagi siyang nakikita.”
So how is it being a mom?
“Being a mother is a full time job. Walang day off. It’s hard, but very rewarding as you see your baby grow and become more responsive.
"But I’m so lucky na there are people with me who are helping me, along with my partner who provides and is always there.”
Since “The Cheating Game” is about cheating, can she sense if someone is cheating on her?
“Oo naman. Mase-sense mo agad, you can feel something is wrong kapag iba-iba ang sinasabi niya, pabago-bago ang istorya.”
How about her current non-showbiz partner, any chance of him cheating her?
“In our case, my partner kilala ko na since grade 1 pa lang ako. So we grew up together, in and out siya sa bahay namin.
"Parang anak na nga siya ng daddy ko. So kilala na namin talaga ang isa’t isa and I’m confident na hindi siya magluluko.”
Now that she’s a mother, does she have any restrictions in the roles she will accept?
“No naman, same pa rin, no restrictions. Even before naman, hindi ko talaga kaya ang roles na sobrang sexy, to be honest.
"I just wish I would be given more different kinds of roles at hindi puro contravida lang. I also enjoying being a guest co-host in ‘Eat Bulaga’.”
“The Cheating Game” is from a story by Shao Masula and the full script is written by Rod Marmol who also directed the movie.
What is their take about cheating?
“As the concept creator and based on my own experience, once a cheater, always a cheater,” says Shao.
“But I believe everyone can change naman, so I’m willing to give another chance, basta huwag na lang uulitin.”
“Ako naman kapag niloko ka, gantihan mo,: says Rod. "So sa akin, isulat natin ito at gawing film and create something beautiful out of that ugly experience.
"Para naman ang viewers, may matutuhan dito. And for me, maloko ka minsan, forgiveable pa yun. But kung maloloko ka ulit, hobby mo na yun and that’s bad, kaya huwag mo na hayaang maulit pa.”
“The Cheating Game” opens in theaters on July 26.
