BONG REVILLA IS so happy that his action-comedy show on GMA, “Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis”, rated very high on its Sunday slot and is always overloaded with commercials.
“Gusto ko pong magpasalamat sa lahat ng nanood at tumangkilik sa aming show,” he says in a special thanksgiving lunch he hosted for select members of the press.
“Talagang ang daming tumututok sa show at nagpaabot sa amin ng pagbati nila kasi they really found it very entertaining.”
The show’s avid followers say their Sundays won’t be complete without “Walang Matinik na Pulis”.
"When they learned na magpapahinga muna ang show at last episode namin this Sunday, they said malulungkot sila kasi laugh trip talaga ang show and it’s a perfect way for them to end their weekend every Sunday.
"But we’re now preparing for Season 2 na we’ll start taping in October.”
As a gesture of thanksgiving, Sen. Bong is holding "Pasasalamat ni Tolome Giveaways" on his Facebook page live this Sunday at 5:30 PM. Just tune in and you can wish big prizes like laptops and fabulous cash prizes!
"This is our way of saying thank you sa wala sawa nilang pagtangkilik kay Tolome," says Sen. Bong.
“Gusto ko ring pasalamatan lahat ng naging guest stars namin sa show.”
His own wife, Congresswoman Lani Mercado, was a special guest in a recent episode.
It will be recalled that it was Lani who was really his original leading lady as Gloria in the two “Walang Matigas na Pulis” that he did in the 90s.
Last Sunday, Lani was the special guest in "Walang Matigas na Pulis" but she wasn’t the wife of Bong. Instead, she played the wife of another senator.
They asked Sen. Bato de la Rosa to try acting in this episode and he obliged and granted the special favor asked by his co-senator from him.
“Riot yung mga naging eksena nila ni Lani sa episode na ito,” says Bong. “Si Sen. Bato proved that he is a natural actor and comedian.
"May mga pitik siya na sobrang nakakatawa talaga kaya abangan nyo dahil never a dull moment ang buong episode na ito.”
For the last episode this Sunday, the special guest is Michael V. "Don;t miss it kasi ibang-ibang Bitoy ang mapapanood nyo sa show. Ibang character ang ginampanan niya," adds Sen. Bong.
The coming months of September and October will be very special for Sen. Bong. First, he would celebrate his 57th birthday on September 24 at Okada Manila.
Then in October, he will celebrate his 50th anniversary in showbusiness.
It was in 1983 that Bong did his very first movie, “Dugong Buhay”, co-starring his own dad, Ramon Revilla Sr.
It was a co-production between Viva Films and their own company, Imus Productions.
But he starred acting on camera as a child actor when he was only 7 years old in 1973 in his Papa’s movie, “Tiyagong Akyat”, a big hit. Then he played his young dad in “Bianong Bulag”.
“Kami ng mga kapatid ko, ginagawang suporta ng daddy namin sa movies niya noon. Siguro nagtitipid siya sa casting kaya kinukuha kami,” he laughs
That started his love for acting and eventually, he had a successful career as a topnotch young action star and, up to now, his star continues to shine bright as one of our most durable actors in showbusiness.
“Sa lumipas na limampung taon, naging kabilang ako sa ating industriya and it was so kind to me kaya wala na akong mahihiling pa. Lubos akong nagpapasalamat sa Panginoon sa lahat ng biyaya na pinagkaloob Niya sa akin at sa aking pamilya.
"Hindi ko maaabot ang lahat ng ito kundi dahil sa Kanya, kasama rin lahat nagtiwala sa akin – sa mga producers, directors, production staff, mga stuntman, mga kapwa artista, at lahat ng ating mga naging tagahanga.”
In line with this, GMA Network will do a television special celebrating his golden year in the entertainment industry.
And ABS-CBN people like Malou Santos and Chit Guerrero promised to help in putting it up as Bong was their star in their very first movie produced for Star Cinema, “Adan Ronquillo”, which was blockbuster hit.
For his special anniversary presentation, he will also return before the movie cameras. He’s slated to do a movie with Jillian Ward tentatively titled “Lagot Ka sa Tatay Ko”, which is inspired by FPJ’s “Isusumbong Kita sa Tatay Ko”.
“Bale reunion namin ito ni Jillian kasi una kaming nagkasama in ‘Agimat’ when she was still a child star,” adds Sen. Bong.
And what is his birthday wish?
“Wala na siguro kasi the Lord has blessed me so much. I am blessed with my family.
"Mga anak ko, I'm very proud of them kaasi accomplished lahat, may abogado, may doktor, may public servant din like me and their mom.
"Maski sa career, I feel so fulfilled. Ang wish ko na lang is mas makatulong pa ako sa kapwa ko, sa mas maraming tao.”
To Sen. Bong, advanced happy birthday and 50th anniversary!
