MEGAN YOUNG and Mikael Daez were married in January of 2020 and now, after three years, they’re having a great time working together in the hit Kapuso primetime drama, “Royal Blood”, where they also play a married couple.
In the story, Mikael is Kristoff Royales, a son of Tirso Cruz III as business magnate Gustavo Royales, and half brother of the illegitimate son, Dingdong Dantes as Napoy.
The show is a whodunit. After Gustavo is murdered, it becomes a guessing game for the viewers as to who killed him?
One of the suspects is Megan as Diana, the scheming wife of Kristoff. They have an autistic son and Megan has her own ulterior motives in the series.
Viewers find her acting very effective, specially when she tries to make Mikael believe in all her machinations so they can get his family’s wealth.
“I’m really enjoying portraying my role kasi it’s totally different from what I am in real life,” says Megan.
Ganun din naman si Mikael, ibang-iba rin yung character niya in what he is in real life, and we both enjoy the challenge our roles offer.
"Both our characters harbor deep dark secrets na pasabog talaga kapag nabunyag na sa viewers. Viewers think I’m interested in the wealth of the Royales family, but there’s actually more to it than meets the eye.”
“Doing this series is really quite an adventure for both of us,” says Mikael.
“This is the first time we did a murder-mystery and, like the viewers, we ourselves are enjoying the process of how the characters develop and how their mysterious secrets are revealed in the course of the show.
"Kami mismo, hindi pa rin namin alam who the killer is as we were taping it. It’s fun and my wife and I find it an incredibly enjoyable journey for our characters.”
“We’re also having so much fun working with the big cast,” adds Megan.
“Lahat mahusay, kaya you’ll really be inspired to always give your best, like Rhian Ramos as Margaret, Dion Ignacio as her secretive husband Andrew, Lianne Valentin as Beatrice, Rabiya Mateo as Tasha, the leading lady of Dingdong Dantes.
"They all deliver with flying colors, specially in the confrontation scenes. It’s really a great show with quality production values and the expert direction if Dominic Zapata.”
“Royal Blood” started airing in mid-June and now, after three months, it’s on its final week and last few episodes, so don’t miss the show as it escalates to its shattering conclusion on September 22.
It will be replaced by the new romantic drama, “Love Before Sunrise”, starring Dennis Trillo and Bea Alonzo.
Going back to Megan and Mikael, fans are forever asking them as to when they will have a baby.
“Yung mga ganyan, you cannot naman just put a date on it,” says Megan. “If it happens, it happens.
"We’re open to what God will give to us. We just go with the flow. The important thing is our marital relationship remains very strong and we’re just enjoying our life together.
"We continue to discover each other and learn from each other. And we’re glad to be given the chance to work together in ‘Royal Blood’ kasi nagtutulungan kami talaga sa pagbuo ng aming characters and doing our scenes with the other characters.
"We ask each other, paano ba gagawin natin dito? And it really helps us a lot to understand the nuances of the characters and the scenes that we do.”
